What does Memorial Day mean to the rest, who are not Military or have lost someone in the Service?
Watching as many War and Military Movies as possible on this Memorial Day. I just have memories and faint stories of members who have served in earlier Wars, defending our Great Nation. Just wondering, besides the family and friends, get togethers planned for this weekend, care about those that have lost their lives serving, and what other things will you do or participate in, like Lodge or Club, Parades, etc.? Enjoy the weekend. Nice weather is promised for most of us..
It means enjoying what they have because they have earned it by simply being born in America and have the opportunity to enjoy it because others chose to put a uniform on. That is what a lot of people don't realize. It is ok to enjoy this weekend even if you never served or have any connection with anyone who served. If you are an American, that is your right to stay put and live life as God has intended you to. Some of us go off and fight. Some don't!
We always put our flag out in honor of those who have served and those who lost their lives. Our community hosts parades and ceremonies at parks too. Many just look at this day as a day off. I look at it as a day to say thank you for the freedoms we all enjoy.

If we don't acknowledge the real criminals? If we don't punish Bush and his administration (his closest crime perpetrators Rumsfeld and Cheney)?

It is now the 9th anniversary of 9/11, and I am crying as I write this. I lived in Florida at the time and was up here for meetings in NYC. I stayed in Connecticut to see friends, planning on commuting in the next day. That morning, I was driving down I-95, almost into New York City. I was on a...

Is military service no longer a requirement for President/Vice President of the United States?I remember when Dan Quayle was looked on with derision because he "only" served in the National Guard. Yet 2012 could mark the first US election where no one on the ticket for either major party...
