If we don't acknowledge the real criminals? If we don't punish Bush and his administration (his closest crime perpetrators Rumsfeld and Cheney)?

Seriously?  You're saying Bush is more of a criminal than those that took the lives of thousands of innocent people?  I'm no Bush fan, but you can't be serious.  Obviously, you're just trying to be controversial.

Now exactly how did they go about doing that? Bearing in mind of course that George W. Bush was supposed to have been, according to liberals, the stupidest human to ever occupy the White House.
You need to explain all this. Because scientifically it has been proven it happened exactly as it is supposed to have.

              Nope....you ain't doing that.
You specifically single out Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld.
You actually have no evidence or anything at all do you?
If you do, have them arrested. You can do so.
You appear to be the most righteous among us...or so you believe.
              Go for it.

You sure picked a great day to disrespect the 3,000+ families that lost their loved ones. Talk about disrespect! I hope you got the few point bump you were looking for. You’re a real jem. At least you did it here like a true coward, so you can report anyone who tells you what you deserve to hear.

I am sorry if you feel that the Bush/Chenney band of criminals were to blame for the attacks and conspiracy theories but this countries foreign policy has long been controlled by greed and aggression. It started with the indians and continues today. Our CIA and other agencies are involved in overthrowing and marginalizing our enemies of the state ( business) for many years. Just do a search for American backed overthrows of foreign governments and you will see a pattern that has bred more anger and distrust from citizens in foreign countries of our intents and interests. Why were we not involved in Kenya or ran from Somalia or involved in Ryanda. No money interests so Libya and Egypt have oil. Guess who wants a stake?
Harry Truman knew that the US backed creation of Israel would be trouble from the outset and he was right when 911 occurred.

We remember Pearl Harbor, too, and look how long ago that happened. It's one of the very few places where America has been attacked on its own soil, and it started a war (We won't discuss Iraq). It's also the highest death rate resulting from attack on American soil, and most of those were civilians, not even soldiers. The people who weren't strictly considered civilians were fire and police, who came to help.

While I see those as important points for remembrance, I consider the people and their actions, and what that has shown us about how we can act in the face of death to be well worth remembering. The fire and police personnel who willingly went into those buildings deserve to be remembered. They knew there was danger, but they headed up the stairs, while everyone else was headed down.

The people who showed love and goodness when they knew that they were living out their last minutes are very worth remembering. People spent their last minutes leaving messages of love. The people in the plane that crashed in a field and not in a building, as the terrorists intended, took their last minutes to save hundreds of other lives when they knew that there was no hope of their own being saved. There were heroes both on the ground and in the air at every location.  There is a great deal to remember and to honor in that event.

To me, remembering the politicians and saying that the fact that they haven't been punished for their venal behavior is missing the point.

What do you remember of Pearl Harbor that the government let it down while knowing that the Japanese would attack it given that it was the closest military base from Japan? That most of the warships were old therefore acceptable to be sacrificed? What do people know about their own history? Nothing. It is a flagrant exemple! Shame on you!

I still remember those people jumping from those windows, it will stay engraved in my brain the rest of my life! Don't you think that they deserve better? They were consciously killed for economical interests and, the culprits are still out there fomenting the next invasion! What did they learn from their criminal actions? That they can reiterate! Which city will be targeted if Romney wins the elections?

USA TODAY estimates that at least 200 people jumped to their deaths that morning, far more than can be seen in the photographs taken that morning. Nearly all were from the north tower, which was hit first and collapsed last. Fewer than a dozen were from the south tower.

Most of the people that jumped came from the north tower's 101st to 105th floors, where the Cantor Fitzgerald bond firm had offices.

            Peter worked for Cantor Fitzgerald.

So dont you dare even try telling me that this will stay engraved on your brain for the rest of your life! You have no idea of what it is like to ever have to have a thought if one of the ones that jumped belonged to you. For sure if it did have effect on you, could you, would you be taking time to disrespect the lives that were lost.

So take this post of yours and shove it. Maybe in the next 24 hours you will stop with your conspiracy theories for a moment and use that time in a human and decent manner. It is called Respect. Something maybe you should research and hopefully learn a thing or two about before the next time you go spewing your nonsense around.

I'm truly sorry for your loss, and I can only imagine what you must be feeling. To lose a loved one is bad enough, but to have it happen like this is, almost Shakespearean in it's tragedy.

Personally, I was working in the Capitol Building as a junior Legislative Assistant. I was fresh out of college and working for a Congresswoman (who just happened to be my mother).

I have had to deal with more than my fair share of conspiracy theorists since then, and have been deposed as part of three separate FOIA suits. That being said, whether you agree or disagree, people like maxoxam41 are inspiring. Now before anyone get's too excited, let me explain that if I may.

While I personally don't agree with maxoxam41, or his theories, I do respect his opinion, and am grateful to live in a country where he is free to express those opinions. Publicly call the Ayatollah a criminal in Iran, and it's off with your head. Do it in China or Russia, and it's a prison cell for you.

So, as odious as his views may be, especially at this particular time of year, they are an example of the plurality and freedom that America has always stood for, and that the terrorists failed to diminish 11 years ago.

              Just my humble opinion.

Yes this is a free country and we are so very lucky to be able to think and say what we think without the fear of being locked up in a place like Evin Prison.

It's not your "different ideas" as much as it is blatent disrespect for our dead comrades. You are missing the point as to why people discredit you: You are saying "What is the point of remembering 9/11, if we do not punish the 'real' criminals." Lets pretend you are right: You are telling people they do not have the right to remember since they are not punishing the person who did it. I'm sorry, but when my cat got hit by a car when I was 15 years old, I had no idea whodunnit. I can still fondly remember my cat, and mourn for the loss of my cat, can I not? (I'm sorry, I don't have any examples of mourning the loss of people in this manor, but it stands the same).

I don't think you are correct. If there was outstanding proof available to us, pointing the finger at the Bush administration, then you probably wouldn't be on here trying to convince everybody else that they are wrong. But you have no proof. Stuff you can research on the internet is not proof. The internet, afterall, is another form of this "media" you are trying to dearly to discredit.

People lost their lives. That is point of remembering 9/11. That is not up for dispute.

Once again, who do you think you are? Your argumentation lacks coherence! It is an occasion for you to cry on your own misery!
Then if it is not Bush, logically it was those Arabs, right? Where is the proof?

No witnesses were obliterated. There were no nifty holograms in the sky. There was no laser like in Men In Black atop the Empire State Building that planted the same information in thousands of witnesses memories. The sheer numbers that would have to be involved to even begin to pull off such a thing would be beyond mind boggling. Further, it still would not work because there were too many witnesses at the scene. Your scenario does not even pass the basic logic test for possibility. There is nothing righteous in your inflammatory remarks. They are self-serving and disrespectful, not to the government, but to those who died and their families.

Any evidence linking the US Government to 9/11 would be, quite simply, the biggest story on the planet, worth BILLIONS in publishing and broadcasting.

While you may not trust in the motives of the Government to discover the truth, you can always, always, count on the media to do anything for ratings/circulation.

Let's just nip this in the bud now. They were consciously killed by terrorists in planes. Your little conspiracy theories have been debunked time and time again, over and over and over. The little photo shopped pics do not impress me, the videos with their fake time stamps do not impress me either.  Karma can be a royal you know what and I know there is a special not so nice place reserved in the After Life for those who choose to continue with such crap and disrespect those that were murdered that day and their families.

                Yes, it was.

I cancelled my usual fare of sports programming this morning to watch the activities remembering that day.

My brother worked at the law firm Hill, Betts, & Nash on the 52d floor of the North Tower at the time. No one was killed or seriously injured from his firm, although several were slightly injured by flying glass. He did know some of those who were lost.

We need to think of the name of the award the person who started this thread deserves.

Max you need to go look at a forum thread that has to do with iron microspheres.
Among other things you get a good explanation of what has to occur to produce a controlled detonation on the scale it would have taken on 9/11.
There are people hurting for real reasons. Now unless you can get Dick Cheney back from his moon base go to it and find him.

To answer my original question. Yes, you are fucking serious.

You think it's a joke that people died.

You posted this topic with an agenda to spread hate and discontent. What did you think would happen? We would all see the error of our ways, and kiss your ass? We would all come clean with how 'wrong' we were for the past 11 years?

maxoxam, I truly and honestly believe that the world is not better off with you in it. With the name-calling, hateful messages, and overall blatent disrespect (wavegirl22's dead cousin), I cannot take anything you say seriously. I cannot respect you. If this were my community, you would not be welcome.

I will no longer respond to any of your bullshittery.

Good, it is exactly what I wanted. I don't need people who don't know what the stakes at play are! The world doesn't need people that cry over their "fallen comrades" (how hypocritical!). The world needs critical thinking not media slaves! With you perpetrators will reiterate their infame actions. Enough of giving us lessons without knowledge!

It is a pity that the freedom of speech is not allowed through the ban process. I regret that, you people, won't express yourself because of several bans. I was banned too, I didnot stop expressing myself even if it had to cost me another ban. It is the freedom of speech!

My problem is when I ask myself, who does the crime benefit to, irremediably the answer bounces on those terrorists (Bush, Rumsfeld and Cheney). By classifying me in the conspiracy theorists file denies me any objectivity. I really pity people who live in their fantasy world believing that the US is rosy or close to Dora's world! We forgot our history quickly, if we know it, Vietnam (Eisenhower said that if at that moment the Vietnamese had voted they would have given 80% of their votes to Ho Chi Minh), Nagazaki and Hiroshima and so forth...

Lets all take a moment to remember 9/11.
    http://blogs.suntimes.com/sportsprose/9-11.jpg

I remember 9/11 because of the shock, the terror, and the loss of lives. The "point" of remembering 9/11 is to honor the dead. Thank you for posting this thread, because now we have a place to come together and remember.

I grew up in New York. Although I did not live there anymore when it happened, it hit a lot closer to home than for many of my peers. I was the only one in the room crying that day. They sent us home from school, they sent my parents home from work. It was very scary, and moving to watch those people jump. I recall a man who had jumped, landed on a priest who was there praying for the people, and killed him.

I remember how it didn't matter whether we were priest, fireman, civilian, democrat or republican. I remember how we all felt that day, regardless of race, color, economic status or political opinion.

That is the "point" of remembering 9/11. I take your silence in this thread as shame. You should be ashamed, and I hope you are. You should be ashamed for tainting the memories our our lost comrades.

Tainting their memories or spitting on most of your ignorance! Which researches did you do to prove that it wasn't done by the government? Let me guess! None. And you come here on your horses as the sole and rightful possessor of the "truth"?

I know how many died. When are we going to hunt the real culprits? It is my question. "Fallen comrades" is it a joke? You are developing the same discourse than the media!

We know the culprits and who directed them. And we found him. End of story. You are not putting forth any arguments, rationalizations or proof of anything. You are simply flooding the thread with inflammatory remarks.

I just gave you the culprits and their motivations. We, now, know that Al-Qaeda is US made. It was divulged by an MI5 agent and an American historian/journalist. So, once again, I am dealing with people with subcultures.

It is NOT a joke. PEOPLE DIED. For most deaths, there are people left to mourn them. Who will mourn yours?

If your point was to ask "when are we going to hunt the real culprits?" then perhaps you should have opened with that question. Not the question "what is the poing of remembering 9/11?"

We are all here, answering your questions. I have seen nobody that agrees with you, and even fewer that don't think you're full of shit. Please discontinue your blatent disrespect. Do you love anyone? Do you have any friends or family? Imagine if one of them died. Would you consider their memory not worth thinking about if they never caught the "real" murderer? Really? Are you so heartless as to say that it isn't worth remembering the deaths of these victims?

They are fallen comrades. They were my comrades. I am a New Yorker. They are your comrades, too.

Had it been a member of my family, I would have used the full extent of the law to have them trialed on an national level and international. Desmund Tutu is also for a condamnation of the real criminals!

I do not take anyone seriously who says on one hand that Hussein's atrocities against his own people and all those who died "have no relevance" but want to condemn two people who acted on information they received and believed to be accurate. It smacks of an agenda other than any truth. And he was not speaking of 9/11 anyway. He was only speaking of Iraq. Please go play with the rest of your "friends" in fantasy land. We live in the real world here and are taking this day to remember the innocent who were murdered by terrorists in planes and hopefully their families are finding some solace in knowing that the mastermind behind the tragedy is no longer walking the earth.

Hussein was trained by the CIA. The atrocities, he committed, had I guess an American know-how. And I don't recall that the Bush administration attacked Saudi Arabia, that was the craddle of the so called perpetrators. No, they pretended that it was Osama Bin Laden and attacked Iraq. It makes sense. Oh, I forgot we were aiming his dictatorship! What about Saudi Arabia, isn't it the biggest dictatorship? Isn't it radical muslim? I guess, there's a double standard there! And since you worry about the death toll, the Iraq war probably killed more people than Hussein would have.

                Let's check the scoreboard:

                Saddam Hussein
                Iran/Iraq War (1980-1988)= 750,000 dead
                Persian Gulf War (1990) = 65,000 (estimated)
                Fedayeen Saddam Activities = 200,000 + over 23 years
                Total = 1,015,000 deaths

                The Iraq War (2003 - 2009) = 151,000

Since we are comparing death tolls brought by countries let's see how many Americans died in Afghanistan, in Iraq (Gulf war and the recent invasion), Lybia... And without counting undercover involvement!

It is definitely anchored in the history. I tend to disagree with you when you referred to Somalia. Somalia was invaded by Kenya with the financial support of the US. Journalists out in the fields denounced the Kenyan intervention and their use of drones. I personally doubt that Kenya has drones in its military panoply.
