Halloween is fast approaching only a couple of weeks away. Do you get trick or treaters in your neck of the woods. I don't, but, even though diabetic it doesn't stop me from getting candy to hand out . . . just in case. I got 2 bags of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and one of Kit Kat candy bars to hand out snack sizes. That will be a year's worth of cheating ;-)

    Some facts about Halloween candy.

    Halloween Candy Quick Facts
** 172 million Americans celebrate Halloween
** 30% of all Halloween purchases are made online
** Among those who celebrate Halloween, 95% will purchase candy
** They will spend about $27.55 on average
** Most Halloween shopping is done the first 2 weeks of October.
** In Oregon, full-sized candy bars are the norm for trick-or-treaters to receive
** Overall Halloween spending is expected to be $10.6B in 2022
** Over 50% of parents stash some Halloween candy to enjoy later in the year

In my state, California, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups is the most favorite. At the link below see your state as well as all fifty. A good article is interesting info on Halloween candy like it will reach 3.1 billion of the Halloween 11 billion industry this year.

Trick-or-treaters used to have a great time in the neighborhoods, here, but now they go to certain spots in town and collect candy from the street stores and merchants.

I haven't seen trick-or-treaters in their adorable costumes at my door for years.

I have decided to have some boxes of raisins on hand, just in case.
      Why not?

Same here. As said I don't get trick or treaters too. Malls hand out candy in this neck of the woods. Raisins are probably best, yet kinda' expensive, though if you don't get trick or treaters doesn't matter does it?

          Exactly.
Otherwise, I will eat up the Butterfingers and Almond Joys I buy "for them."

          7. "Hot Tamales - New To The Top Ten List!

A new addition to the Top Ten Best Halloween Candy list this year because the kids just can't get enough of it. The spicy trend has been heating up for a few years now and it doesn't seem to be letting up. These were not hugely popular when I was growing up, but the times they area a changin. You will need to change as well. So grab some Hot Tamales and watch the kids snatch them out of your trick-or-treat bowl first."

I'm surprised that Blow Pops are on the first list at all!
Must be cheap. (well, of course, they are.)

Raisins might be why you aren't seeing them at your door. ;-)

Lol. No offense to Kathryn, but I would never insult a child with raisins. That’s just wrong. Halloween is supposed to be fun.

I agree, but if they don't come to my door, whats the point of buying candy that I will end up eating? which I should not end up eating.
Seriously, they do not come to my door because the parents of these kids are scaredy cats. It happened when people started putting razor blades in apples and such. yikes! Malls and merchants are more trustworthy than neighbors, I guess.

Something my generation never had to worry about as kids.

Yep. So true. I miss seeing all the cute little tykes in their costumes. I remember taking my son trick or treating. He loved it so much!!! It brings back great memories that today's kids will never have in quite the same way.

... whats amazing, is that as you get older, you just can't eat candy or pies or cookies or ...
    roll hate it.

Oh well, thanks for the reminiscing. At least we can indulge in that.

We get trick-or-treaters every year in my neighborhood. But Halloween is not as big as it used to be. Most kids (parents) go trick-or-treating at big shopping malls. It is easier/safer. (Not as cool, though) This year (like last Halloween) my boys will just chill at home. I'll make it special enough for them. Costumes are ready. Still deciding which homemade treat I'll bake this year.

These cupcakes I did last year, I believe.

I do buy candies for the trick-or-treaters (and for my kiddos). (Last year I bought too much.  Months of eating candy. LOL)
