A Trio of Spring - Haiku

Updated on February 25, 2013

The progression from the frost of early Spring to the promise of Summer expressed in a trio of haiku.
Enjoy!

Earliest Spring blooms

Late frost touches bright colors

Beauty gone too soon

Cold rain hits rooftops

Shift in wind, slight break in clouds

Appears, a rainbow!

Frosty nights have gone

Shades of green are painting trees

Summer on the way!

Nice haiku, you capture the real Spring - just when you think it's 'sprung', it gets all frosty again but through the frost there is welcome warm colour and promise of more to come. Summer isn't quite on the way here but it won't be long.

      Voted up!

Jools99 - Thank you! It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy to know that I have conveyed the feeligns I was looking to.

Spring had an early start here, and then promptly retreated! She is slowly creeping back. That is one thing about weather here in NY. It can be warm and toasty one day and cold and damp the next. Always keeps you guessing!

Here's to summer days on the way! :)

I love rainbows, and this photo is gorgeous! All too soon the spring flowers bloom and fade away to the green of summer. Beautiful poem.

Shift in wind, opens the clouds....would get your seventh syllable for the line "Shift in wind, break in clouds". Nice thoughts of spring and its contrasts. Up and Awesome.
