Ode to Susan - A Love Poem
================
Susan was my wife's best friend for more than fifty years. They lived next door to each other and went to grade school together. Even after we moved 400 miles away, they stayed in touch.
-------------------------
Fortunately, shortly before Susan died, we were able to move back close to where she lived. My wife was able to spend some time with her and our adopted daughter, finally got to meet her godmother.
--------------------------
When we adopted a Russian orphan, Susan became her godmother. She was seriously ill for a long time but no one expected her to die so suddenly. This ode is a tribute to my wife's best friend.

Ode to Susan
My wife’s best friend throughout the years,
Her passing left us filled with tears.
Godmother to our youngest child,
"When she was born the angels smiled."
------------------------------------
Caring mother, loving wife
She brought much joy into their life.
Instead of college she did wed.
She raised a family instead.
------------------------------------
She raised three children of her own,
Then took in foster children too.
She finally adopted one,
The loving son she never knew.
--------------------------------------
In later years she had great pain,
The tumors traveled through and through.
And finally they reached her brain,
There was nothing more that she could do.
---------------------------------------
My wife’s best friend throughout the years,
Her passing left us filled with tears.
At bringing joy, she was adept,
"And when she died, the angels wept."
