Why did you decide to start writing articles on HubPages?
What motivated you to write on this site? Are you just starting and needed an outlet? Did you want a place to earn money/publicity? Tell me!
For me it's not about money... which is a good thing, I've realized! I just wanted to start writing again, to have my thoughts in one place online away from my kiddos who tend to destroy notebooks. It also gives me a chance to share what I feel with others who may find it useful, entertaining or enlightening.
Thank you for the reply, Johnsonrallen!
I also believe it's vitally important to have a place to collect my thoughts.
It was mostly about the publicity. Deviantart is a great site but I needed something more focused on writing. I found HubPages while looking through Google and after a little background check decided to join. I've been wanting to have a writing career for quite a few years and this site helped get my butt in gear with my writing schedule. It's still a bumpy road but HubPages helps a lot.
Thank you CroftRoan.
I'm curious: in what way has HubPages helped you stay focused on your writing career that was lacking before?
I was lacking a structured writing schedule and feedback from readers. The accolades were also useful because every time I got a new one I wanted to write more so I could keep succeeding.
For me, it started for the money. My wife and I were financially unstable for quite a while and I heard about a similar pay-for-writing website. I tried them for a while, but found that their format was too restrictive. While researching what other people thought of that site, I discovered HubPages as an alternative. Unfortunately, it would be quite a while before I had my first payout. It swooped in to save us at a crucial moment, but it became clear after a while that I couldn't rely on it for monthly income.
At that point, I thought I could use the articles as writing samples when applying for jobs, but it didn't help much and I continued to use it for no other reason than the joy of the writing process. Now-a-days I still keep it around for the lively discussion and consolidation of my thoughts, but it's also pulling double-duty for me as a platform for my writing. With a published novel, I've been able to use HubPages as a central hub for my writing presence.
Congratulations on writing your novel, M. T. Dreamer!
I'm curious, do you feel HubPages played any role in helping you write that book. Maybe giving you an arena to develop your voice/style or instilling you with the discipline necessary to finish.
I wouldn't say that HubPages helped me write/finish my book (I started writing it in 2003). But I would say it helped introduce me to changes going on in the self publishing industry as well as the need to market oneself on the internet.
Primarily it is publicity. It's also a change from my main website and working on novels. I exercise more research and critical thinking skills here because I am attempting to produce thought provoking *and* intuitive articles.
I found HubPage an excellent platform to exhibit my writing skill. So, I decided to write article there. The comments made on my article also help me to improve my writing skills to a great extent. People were also providing me tips. This is truly great.
I have a method which is working for me currently.
I have a facebook page having 200k fans on it related to wwe.
What i do is i write an article about wwe and Submit it to largearticle.com
Then i drive traffic through fanpage to my article link.i share article link only 3-4 time to my fanpage in 8-10 hours.
Currently i am averaging 4$ a day by doing this. But its very scalable if you have big fanpages.
It very scalable if you have a big fanpages.
Steps to do
1. Write unique article
2. Submit it to largearticle.com
3. Get it approved.wait for 2 days to get approved.
Then drive traffic to it.
In this method there is no need of purchasing domain and hosting.

An editor reviewed this particular hub and decided that due to the fact that it has been extensively covered they could not get it on Toughnickel. To my surprise I found it doing well on the main site - HubPages.
