Lewis hands down.  I dearly love the characters created by Lewis.

H.G.Wells was very creative in terms of broader thinking.

However, I prefer C.S.Lewis. Like poetvix said, Lewis's characters were much more personable, even if he was trying, in some ways, to sell a religion to those who read his book.

    Hope this helps!

Why do we have to chose ?

Both are brilliant, exciting writers and story tellers of different genres.

Both are inspirational reading for budding athors and both writers make good reading for each new generation that come along.

So please explain why you would encourage readers to select one over the other when both should be enjoyed !

I prefer C.S. Lewis.  His stories are more engrossing whereas H.G. Wells' scientific ideas are his appeal.  I think Lewis is a superior writer in terms of word craft.  He can say so much with just a simple phrase.

Enjoy reading C.S.Lewis far better than H.G.Wells!
