Heaven sounds like a lot of fun, but death is unexpected and unknown. We don't like things that hurt... and it's a given for most deaths (except if you're sleeping when it happens).
If a lot of other people are like me, they don't want to go to heaven or die. I'd rather it be "lights out" once I do die. Good Lord, I don't want to keep floating around somewhere for the rest of time. LOL
It is very true that there is a great fear of the unknown, and death is the great unknown for most people. Surprisingly, one in every three people who 'die' upon the operating table and are resussitated state that where they went in that intervening time was generally very pleasant...they were, they often reported, on the way to a better place.
Let's face it, there is either nothing (the lights out, battery expired belief) which can lead to a lot of angst as people near the end of their expected life-span) or there is something. I don't know about this 'floating around' bit. Why would we do that?
My own belief is that we shed our bodies and what is left just remains, but is now able to live in a heaven of some sort, probably created to a large extent by our own mind's expectations.
It's not like that I can die a thousand deaths for my love if it's possible...!!!

For the very many years I was in Church attendance, the Kingdom of God was always equated with Heaven. It was a future event that only those who believed in Jesus would see either when they died or were raptured, whilst the remainder of humanity would go to hell. A Christian could be disqualified...
