What is your favorite novel or short story regarding race?
I just finished Major Pettigrew's last stand, and want to read other books like it.
"Black Like Me", and "Things Fall Apart", by Chinua Achebe.
I read a story on-line several months back and it was called Black and White Nation.. I found it compelling and surreal Good question
I've been meaning to read "things fall apart" for a while! And I'll look up black and white nation. thanks J.S. Matthew and Frank Atanacio!
Did you have any recommendations about movies around race? i loved "crash" and would like to see more movies like that.
A Day Late and a Dollar Short by Terry McMillan. I also liked How Stella Got Her Groove Back. But in the first one, an aging Mom of four adult "kids" is ready to pass on, and she leaves a letter to each one. It's great, it will make you both laugh and cry. It's a black family, and McMillan writes the way she speaks if you have ever seen her.
I read Native Son by Richard Wright last year for a class, that was quite an interesting read.
To Kill A Mockingbird, which was the first book I read aged 12 in my English Literature class. It made a great impression on me.

I do like to read short story than a novel. But if I got a good novel or a novel of a famous writer then I read that. What you prefer among them.
