   My favorite short story out of all the ones I've written is Salvatore's War because it is actually the true story of my grandfather's experience in WWI.  Everytime I read it, I still cry.  I guess it's because he told this to my mother before he died and when I read it to my 88 year old mother, she cried and told me that it was "perfect".  No prize or money can ever beat that.

   "I Stand Here Ironing," by Tillie Olsen because it is a story of everywoman - and reminds me of the times I have contemplated life and my past and my family while doing mundane things.

   A Shadow out of Time by H. P. Lovecraft. He managed to get a novel's worth of information into a short story while skillfully combining horror, science fiction and time travel into a neat little package. Of all his stories that I've read, it leaves the biggest impression on me.

   My favourite short story is The Wife of Bath's tale- What Women Most Desire  from the abridged and simplified Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer, one of my favourite short-stories books. It is about an unchivalrous knight who eventually learnt that there is much more than mere beauty in women. This short story got a dash of humour and taught a great deal about human values and morals.
