What makes you like or dislike Louis L amour?
One day I was in a group of people all talking about how much they loved Louis L amour. So I went to the library and checked out the book Sitka. It was an interesting book and I did enjoy it but during some parts of the book I felt like I was watching a movie with actors who couldn't quite pull it off. I do think he is very talented, but I was wondering if anyone else felt the same way. If not maybe I just chose a book that wasn't his best.
Louis Lamour has been dead for a long time. (he died in '88) I know his books are still tremendously popular. Personally, I never cared for his writing style. One book of his I read, can't recall the title, a man was trapped in some place like Siberia or ? And every time he needed something, it seemed to appear for him, whether food or some tool he needed to survive. The plot just seemed contrived to me.
Hello there HE really is a BIG deal as a writer. Louis Dearborn L'amour wrote at least 105 novels, of which at least 35 became movies on their own, and had his fans as well as his critics. But NO other writer could make you feel like you were right there in the scene in any of his books described better than he. The man was a stickler for detail and depth of which many still try to emulate but can't. I have read at least 80 LL books so far and have never ever been disappointed. Even his short stories find a way to get you totally involved and absorbed. Many a rainy wet day were saved by his books. However to each his/her own, but personally I will read anything attributed to this prolific writer who could trigger your imagination, pull you into his books and touch your heart too. READ the Sackett series to better get to know LDL. Thanks Mikayla for your question. Good reading!!

What is your Favourite book and what makes it the best?I personally love the Sherlock Holmes series, I'm not much of a reader but I feel I know the characters as if they were real. It challenges me to think about problems in a more unorthodox manner.

Not all books are worth reading. Do you agree with that?I heard this statement on NPR today and tried to think of a book that wasn't worth reading. I came up with a couple such as "Mein Kamp" but just because we don't agree with the ideas in the book, does that mean we shouldn't read it,...

Is it alright to read more than one book at a time?It seems some people can do i quite easily but for me i always seem to start two at the same time but become uninterested in one and only follow through with one of the books.. Should i still keep trying?

Hi all!I had a Amazon product link removed because apparently it didn't meet the necessary requirements. The link went out to the book I have used as a reference in the article and have paraphrased the authors' statements. Doesn't this imply that I have personally used this book? I own this book...

How long should proofreading and editing take?A good novel can take years to write! I have heard that when an author has finished writing - it could take twice as long, time wise, to proofread and edit the book properly and that even then the final proof needs re-checking before it gets...
