What do you listen to when writing?

What kind of music, genre, artist?

    Hi tamarindcandy
It depends where I am when I'm writing. If I'm at home, then I work in silence - no distractions except the ticking clock and the birds outside.
If I'm working in a public place or on a bus or train, though, I tend to listen to instrumental music, as I get distracted by lyrics and lose the thread of my plot. At the moment I'm listening to a lot of Tangerine Dream and King Crimson, but I want to get some 'proper' classical music as well.

I love to listen to a variety of music when I am writing. The music I choose usually depends on my mood I am in when writing. I mostly listen to gospel, soft rock, jazz, blues, or classical. In my dark moods, I sometimes listen to a little harder rock.

I listen to a lot of different genres.  It depends on what I am writing and what mood I am in.

I actually don't listen to anything. I can't focus on my writing if I'm doing anything but just sitting and writing.
