Why so much incest in ancient mythologies?
Mythology is personification of various stuff, sometimes, we even talk of primal energies, when these are assimilated into human forms, "like Horus"becomes "Horus" thats just an example.
Another reason is mythology is ancient wisdom and history(or rather memory) handed down orally, so things could have got into a muddle.
This is just my take I could be wrong, though I think not.
