Why so much incest in ancient mythologies?
Brother and sister marriages in mythology.
I'm not sure but i guess thats because they were uncivilised. In a civilised world nobody would practice incest anyway..
possibly because in ancient times incest was thought of differently than it is today. In ancient times, towns or villages were smaller and the world as we know it did not exist for them...for some the people they saw in their village or town were the only people they knew existed. In order to procreate and keep their civilizations going, incest was practiced to ensure good bloodlines - or so they thought at the time.
Mythology is personification of various stuff, sometimes, we even talk of primal energies, when these are assimilated into human forms, "like Horus"becomes "Horus" thats just an example.
Another reason is mythology is ancient wisdom and history(or rather memory) handed down orally, so things could have got into a muddle.
This is just my take I could be wrong, though I think not.

Why do we call some religions "mythologies"?Why do we call some religions “mythologies” (ancient Greek, Norse, Egyptian, etc.) and others religions? Is this fair? What does this show about how relevant certain ideas are as society progresses?

Who was Atlas, and how was he perceived in the eyes of the ancient Greeks VS the modern day individual? How has the various religious movements from ancient to modern times changed the way we look on the Olympic mythologies?
