Do you prefer it when someone writes under their real name on blogs, forums, even Hubpages?

What do you think of using real names as a writer? Good branding move or not? Do you use yours?

I do use my real name here because I wanted to be able to use my HP profile as a resume of sorts. I don't mind if people use screen names, we all have different reasons for them. Most people searching for my on the internet will end up here, and my roommate has a screen name that has become his brand.

Thanks for replying Georgie. I feel the same way in that I don't mind what names people use. I enjoy clever usernames and real alike. Using your name as an internet 'brand', do you think it's important (looks more professional) to use your full name?

In my opinion, no. I don't use my full first name here (it's Georgianna), because most people don't call me by that name. Georgie is the first thing they'd look for.

I don't have a preference. Like Georgie Lowery, I use my real name because I wanted to be able to use my HP profile in my resume. I think using your real name versus a screen name can be a risky move because you can hide behind a fake screen name, whereas with your real name you have to be a bit more wary about what you put out there.

    Hi Byron Wolf,
It depends on why they are writing online.  If you are trying to brand yourself and your identity, then yes.
However most people most people don't like to use their real name, and have several aliases online.
    No harm done.
