I think The Big Bang Theory is doing a good job of the science part. But reading, writing, and literature is more difficult. One male created a funny song about interrupting someone when they are reading a book. It's now my ring tone. They tried the same thing with turning the book Inkheart into a movie, but they killed it!
I think all mass media is geared towards one end and one end only - catering to the very lowest human impulses.
I see the other answer below, but I think watching television for any reason is absolutely and utterly disabling to a mind of any stature. They don't have "programming departments" to enhance your life or knowledge, they have them to compel you over time into conformity and idiocy.
Iburmaster - Unfortunately, I do not think that The Big Bang Theory is doing enough for keeping science popular. My impression is that in our society’s entertainment rules and science became very old fashioned. Wesman Todd Shaw - I agree with you about mass media. I hope that internet could be the correcting factor. But what you guys think about TED (www.ted.com)? Are they may be the only good promoter of science today.
