Have you read any of the books in the millennium trilogies?

Have you read any of these books, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Player with Fire, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest or all three? What did you think about it?

Its a thinking person's book. There was a lot of detail about the characters and the legal aspects of what was going on and why Bloomqvist was involved, which I liked. Steig Larsson did a great job. I do wonder a little bit about the translation. As an english speaker, reading this trilogy, the actual writing is great, but I wonder if its a perfect translation from what Steig had written. If so the both the translator and Steig deserve huge kudos. There was a great deal of detail, which on times slowed down the pace... but its not an action type thriller only. So, the ups and downs were nicely done.
Larsson's writing has really put a spot light on Scandinavian writers, and he's the epitome of the elite which all try to be like. Since reading him, I've read Jo Nesbo, Lars Keplar, Camilla Lackberg to name a few. All very good. And very different than english speaking writers. Its refreshing.
One word of caution, if you don't like graphic details there will be sections of all 3 books that may not sit well with you.

    Happy reading!

I agree with you there on many of your points. I'm well into the third book and the detail is what really takes so much time. Especially if they are about a character I prefer not to attach myself to. I'll look into some of those other authors forsho
