To all the poets: Have you ever thought about submitting your poems as songs?
A song is really a poem, so I was wondering if any poets here on HP have ever thought to add a chorus to your poems and submit them as songs to music artists?
Yes! Some of mine are songs in which friends have put to music, with or without a chorus. "Like a Child", for instance, was turned into a worship song at the request of a friend. Others, I wrote with lyrical intentions in mind.
Hi shanmarie, WOW, that is awesome! You should submit them to all music genres and see what happens. I love that one was turned into a worship song! That is amazing (((HUGS)))
Faith Reaper, that is a goal currently in the works. Your encouragement is much appreciated. Hugs to you, too!
Dearest shanmarie, I am so happy it is a goal. I have no doubt of your success! Hugs and love, Faith Reaper
I have written poems and then added choruses to make a song version but I've never actually submitted them to be used anywhere.
Hi Sunny River, I love your hubber name! Thanks for answering. Wow, well, if you have already done that much, you should really give it a shot and submit to all genre of music artists or appropriate for your poems
Guess I've never bothered cause I didn't even know where to start in submitting them to the right people. Where would you do that?
Good question, and maybe you could ask it here? I would think, maybe looking up your favorite music artists' labels, and start there, who knows?
I don't know much about other genres, but as I ventured into blogging about country music artists and songs, I discovered some things. One is that there is the Nashville Songwriting Association. Another is Paramount has songwriting and lyric contes
I think about that all the time........I have been working with someone about publishing some of my poems and the ideas I have, that will come very soon.
As for songs yes not sure how to even go about it, or if they are good enough.
Thanks
Laurie
For some strange reason I kind of want Eminem to sing one of them as a song, (I never do anything without my intuition (holy spirit) speaking and giving me ideas so I feel its ok) I know his music is more satan than anything, however his one song that keeps popping up for me is the one called "I am not afraid" he wrote that after he came out of his dark place and it actually has a lot of meaning to it.
Just a thought that popped in my head
Not even a big fan of his at all, but he is a good entertainer I will give him that much
Maybe it will help him turn his life all the way around, as my poems are also inspirational just like most poetry writers on here.
Hi Rayne, well, I certainly think that is an awesome idea, especially if that thought keeps popping into your head, and I am sure he could relate to your poetry in song format. You will never know until you try.
Well it is good to have the poems (anyone's poems) sang in worship by a Christian singer that is great. On the other side, it may be good to have someone sing it that would have an impact on his/her life to turn around
Yes, Rayne, it is great either way, the bigger impact the better I say
you are so right.... that songs are just poems ....without music yet..!
I write my poetry to music that plays in my mind .. sometimes the music fits just right and sometimes the music doesn't play at all....... ha,ha,ha..., if you know what i mean..
God bless you Faith .. you are the best !
Hi Dearest Michael, thanks so much for answering! That is so interesting about the music playing in your head while you write, so there you go! I understand too, about it not playing. No, you're the best Hugs and love to you this day.
Yes, I did and I believe I can write really good songs for a few famous artists, they inspire me...though it would be better that I finally become successful a singer song writer (-:.
I actually met a lady who heard me singing and is managing a singer, she wants me to write for her protegee. I really need to do research, I have hundreds of songs and write songs everyday!
Wow, NiaLee, thank is wonderful!!! You should pursue such, as you are so talented and already have so many songs and write songs each day, so there you go
I've written some which are like songs but never thought to get them set to music. I tried ages ago when I was in my 20s and even once paid money to have some poems set to music but nothing came out of it and I didn't become a popular song writer.
Hi Gypsy, well you certainly can write poetry no doubt, and that is all a song is, maybe now is the time to try again. Your poetry is amazing and many would make awesome songs no doubt!!! Have a lovely weekend dear friend.
