Do you research breaking news? What sources do you use?

I go to Reuters every morning. They give fair coverage in my view.

Generally I do not go to any one source but see what many sources report then put them together to determine what may be true.

I always look at multiple news sources.  I especially like PBS.  But it seems to me that much of the distrust of media results when viewers just don't like what is being reported.  They'd rather see positive news about the politicians they like and negative reports about those they don't like.  It's easy to reject the news as biased when it doesn't suit our world view.  When looking for biases maybe we should also look inward.

I admire and respect many of the journalists in this country.  They are important to our democracy.  I'm reading a biography of Vladimir Putin at present and one of the first things he did as a leader was to attack the press--attack as in arrest, intimidate and kill.  Thank God we have protection in our constitution for the press and leaders who are willing to stand up for this protection.

Jo that is a very good point. But while checking out this great question I went did a first page finger count of Enquirer/celeb news on CNN. I check CNN daily. But yesterday the count showed fully 1/3 were celeb oriented. That is over the top for me.

Eric, I'm not a fan of CNN but I think they're fluffy, not fake.  I do think they're a little too show business oriented, but I think that is just catering to the public interest.  Not what I want to watch always but not undermining our democracy.

After waiting forever for Benghazi news and not getting it I discovered Fox news which gives all breaking news, not leaving out any. They are the only ones I will ever trust again. Some on there I like less than others but even they report the news instead of trying to omit or cover it up.

Jackie I just checked another online source and out of ten "news" leaders five were actually opinion pieces.
The next page had roughly 1/3 celebrity news.
We just have to do our own research.
