"This world is like a mountain. Your echo depends on you. If you scream good things, the world will give it back. If you scream bad things, the world will give it back. Even if someone says badly about you, speak well about him. Change your heart to change the world."
-- Shams Tabrizi
So happy to reflect on where you were and where you are, my Sweet. As they say, that which is bitter to endure, may be sweet to remember.
Shams is stating the basics of Yoga ... the transformation of one's nature depends on the person. It is I that have to change and no one else. As I change, so will the world change with me, not the other way around.
That is why Saviours' work so hard at asking us not to judge, to find faults. Each one has his/her own struggle. It is a personal journey. Not even the God-man does it for you. He is an excellent guide and will take you along faster, but you have to do the work.
The highly critical are always lonely and insecure within. But change comes only at God's hour. You may talk a 100 years, but the soul needs its own experience before it can be receptive to your Light .. to whatever you have to offer. Much Love, my Jameela.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and wise words, dear brother.
Maher Zain in his song “ Live it up” has said it like this :
"Have you ever, ever been in doubt
Trying so hard to figure it out
I spent many days lost in myself
Drowned in this world, had to reset
I'll never, I'll never, I'll never ever
Go back to that again
Say I gotta get up and get on my way
Leave the negativity way behind me
Say I'll never, I'll never, I'll never ever
Never settle for less
Con amor verdadero
Vamos pa' lante
La vida es lo mejor
Sin ponerle interrogante
Vamos pa' lante
Mi gente pa' lante
La vida es lo mejor sin ponerle interrogante (Life is better without question marks)"
Blessings and Peace.
Indeed a refreshing reminder to all including myself - be the change you wish to see in the world.
Often times we look outward for good things or massive changes and reforms to happen, when inwardly we are filled with clutter; anger, sadness, hate, jealousy, inferiority and all sorts of crippling emotions and feelings that we allow to torment us.
The reflection made by Shams Tabrizi is a sound assertion that what we put forth comes back to us like the echos of our screams on the mountain top. It is important to note that we hold the power within us, in the thoughts we think and the words we speak. Hence, choose to speak life and good things that it shall reflect in your own life as it will on others. Sometimes, it is really about us making the first move towards change to really see change taking place.
Yet, when you find yourself at the receiving end of an unjust criticism or insult, it is really a measure of the other person's own insecurities and character, not yours. So, always choose to take the high road and see how their disposition changes towards you.
Cheers and have a blessed day, Misbah!
Thank you so much for your kind, generous and wise words, Brian. Greatly appreciated! We must start with ourselves if we want to see the change we wish to see in others. Things will change if I will make an effort to alter myself first, and then everything else will fall into right place. Stay safe and happy!
Blessings and Peace!!
Beautiful quote by shams tabrizi. Thank you for sharing, Misbah.
I think it is important to take the ego out of it. To sit with yourself, in stillness, and become more deeply aware of what matters. You can connect with humanity if you carry yourself with empathy and without ego.
Lead with your heart, shortly followed by the mind.
If your a scienctist, with your passion. Lol

You know how you sometimes write a blog and sometimes the most unexpected people read it? Well, I've been approached by Huffington Post to speak when they have a conversation about the things I write about! I don't really mention things when they happen once because people can change their minds,...

The universe is a complete unique entity. Everything and everyone is bound together with some invisible strings. Do not break anyone’s heart; do not look down on weaker than you. One’s sorrow at the other side of the world can make the entire world suffer; one’s happiness can make the entire world...

Why do people don't see the good things you do for them, instead they only see your mistakes?
