These are some of my favorite lines from the play 'Faust':

If ever I to the moment shall say:
Beautiful moment, do not pass away!

Then you may forge your chains to bind me,

Then I will put my life behind me,

Then let them hear my death-knell toll,

Then from your labours you'll be free,

The clock may stop, the clock-hands fall,

And time come to an end for me!

    ––Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Faust.

Yes - this I hold to with devout insistence,
Wisdom's last verdict goes to say:
He only earns both freedom and existence
Who must reconquer them each day.

    Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Faust

Sweet moonlight, shining full and clear,
Why do you light my torture here?
How often have you seen me toil,
Burning last drops of midnight oil.
On books and papers as I read,
My friend, your mournful light you shed.
If only I could flee this den
    And walk the mountain-tops again,
Through moonlit meadows make my way,
In mountain caves with spirits play -
    Released from learning's musty cell,
Your healing dew would make me well!

    Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Faust

For some reason, whenever I read these lines, I feel good.

Thank you so much, John. Glad you liked these lines.

And Thank you for  Ramadan wishes as well. I received the email notification, but my status isn't showing up in my feed, so unfortunately I can't respond there. Strange things are normal on HP. hmm

      Take care and stay healthy.
      Blessings always!

The passages that you've shared are interesting, Misbah. Now that I've read them, I'm going to investigate the play. I've never explored it before. Thank you very much for sharing the lines.

Thank you so much for reading and for your very kind comment, dear Linda. I believe we all learn from one another. About 6 months ago, on a forum discussion, Tanmoy recommended me to read this play. I read the play after he suggested it to me; if you want to read the complete play, you can find it on the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine. I am sure that if you read it, you will enjoy it. smile
