Thanks for sharing the link. We still have cold weather here in Germany as it is Spring. How I wish I have that hot weather here. Some drinks especially those of young coconut water and mango shake are my best drinks to beat the heat in summer when I am in my home country Philippines.

      Have a nice day!

    Hello Anupama,
An interesting article about Chennai’s heat. I was immediately reminded about that famous quote about Chennai's weather, which you have mentioned in your opening paragraph.
I have been to Chennai thrice and it’s a wonderful place.
The various interesting recipes, which you have shared are all very nice. Most of them we also use to beat the heat during Summer season.
Thank you for sharing this well written article.
    Have a great day.

Thanks Chitrangada for reading and posting here. Yes, am sure many of the recipes are common in other parts of India too. Where in India are you from?

Anupama, your article portrayed my childhood life in Chennai. I was born there (in the T.Nagar area) and lived there until my graduation. We used to eat and drink all those things mentioned by you. You mentioned vadam. I think it is vadiyam made from urad batter and dried on cloth over the roof. We used to fry them when dried and eat them with meals as a side dish just like papad.

Thanks, Chitra, for sharing the link to this article.

Ohh thank you so much sir.  I was hit by a wave of nostalgia while writing about vadam (that's how I call it). Pickle and Vadam are both things that I have been meaning to try my hand at for quite some years now. Hopefully soon!
