Dear Mr. Val, this is a brilliant article you have written on how we subconsciously sink into depression and anxiety and the possible way to snap out of it.
    Here is the link:
    https://hubpages.com/health/Do-We-Unkno … tid=Zxz2cZ
I must mention here, that I loved every bit of it from the beginning to the end, including the small quotes you added between the lines. Childhood experiences often leave a lasting effect on building our mindset. You will almost always find something that dates back to that time that is causing your reaction to a certain stimulus at present. I loved reading the entire content. However, for some, a little more than a change in approach to life may be needed to handle depression. I do recommend that they seek professional help for their problem though I know that is not what you would probably give as advice.
Just want to add something to this line you have written here:
“Everybody can act, we don't need an audition in front of a Hollywood impresario to be labeled a promising star”- Well Mr. Val, regarding one of your previous articles, doesn’t this line apply to writing as well? Do we really need to be famous to call ourselves “writers”? We can write for the joy of it and still call ourselves writers cos that’s what we are doing here (whatever the cause may be behind it).
Well, anyway, hope you all enjoy this article as much as I did.
Thanks for writing this, dear Mr. Val. Blessings to you always.

I enjoyed this article by Val. He offers a very interesting take on depression, how it effects us and how to beat it. I especially like the example of winning the lottery.
Thank you for sharing this, Farah.

Farah dear -- I am deeply grateful for your comment, and happy that you liked it.
Here I'd like to respond to that part where you briefly mentioned my earlier article about "who would have a right to call themselves a writer".
Now, technically, everybody is a "writer" who does some writing -- from those authors of books to those writing some total nonsense. For my lack of a word that would make a distinction, I took the meaning of it referring to those writers who are very successful, if not bestselling on the writer's market.
I also mentioned my playing guitar, enough for a singalong with friends, but not enough that I would call myself a "musician".
Nobody should feel hurt by what I said there, because it's simply an honest approach to the level of excellence in writing.
So I will repeat, that we are all merely amateurs, since professionals are not those who have succeeded to sell a couple of poems or -- which was more relevant, those who got showered by a friendly recognition by other hubbers who are themselves also amateurs.
At one place or more I did mention that our amateurism should not prevent us from enjoying in our literary expressions. On the contrary, as long as we are not growing any peacocks' feathers there.
Of course, my writing style of a satirist may include an apparently "mocking" or humorous tone, but then -- as I said it in advance in my Summary -- it should be understood as a friendly tease.
Now, once more, thank you for your nice comment, and be blessed, my friend.

I agree with you on that, Mr. Val. We should all be aware of where we stand and not get carried away by compliments or a few instances of success. I get you! Thank you for the reply.

Val has included some very interesting ideas and suggestions in his article. The article should be helpful for many people. I agree with Farrah, though. Professional help may be needed for some cases of depression. particularly when a relevant health problem exists that requires medical treatment.

Linda & Farah -- Hey girls, I assume that most of the people don't read the Summary -- otherwise you would have also noticed that my very first words of the Summary were: "Barring the possibility of serious psychiatric cases, most people..."etc. Right there I am saying that my article is not including cases where a medical intervention is necessary. I don't qualify to talk about psychopathology in schizophrenics or alike sufferers where depression may be prominent and requires psychoactive drugs.
But that slip doesn't make your nice comments any less valued, so thanks again.

Thanks for the kind comment at the end of your post, Val, but I don't see the text that you've quoted in the article. I used the "Find on page" tool in my browser and couldn't find it. The summary of the article says "Val isn't playing life coach by sharing some useful ideas gathered over 7 decades of life experience and hundreds of books on human nature." Am I missing something?

I think the summary you mentioned isn’t showing up on the main page. It probably comes in the list of your articles which the link doesn’t open. Anyway, I made my comment based on the cumulative impression that I got from some of your comments and articles about how you feel regarding seeking professional medical help…and that’s all good. Lifestyle management, and dietary regulations- all these work well as primary and secondary preventive strategies. Once the issues become uncontrolled or reach severe and acute stages it’s always advisable to seek medical help. That’s what I meant. Keeping a positive mindset, and living a healthy and happy life are key ingredients for your psychological and also physical well-being. The article rightly emphasizes that.

Something strange is technically going on, because when I scroll down here on Forum and I find my article, right there is the Summary under the photo with a girl sitting in a corner depressed in a sort of a pink ambient. But, ultimately none of this really matters, and I am surely not making a big deal out of it.

I think the part that I quoted was your bio, not the summary. I don't think the summary appears on the published article. Sorry about the confusion.

No problem at all, I just wanted you to know that I did mention that, and now you know that I did -- whether it was showing or not.

    Val...
I must say I'm impressed with this one.
"We just scan over our memory bank fishing for similarities from some past, even if forgotten situations..."

I honestly believe I do this alot.  Not putting myself into a depression spin, but not trusting other people simply based on a few similar actions.

I love how you suggest the solution for depression is to become an actor.

This is like manifesting something into reality...which I believe in.

    Nice article.
