Gutter Hedgehog Leaf Guard - My Review
The Gutter Hedgehog
Strange name I know, but it sounds much more memorable than simply "Gutter Brush" I guess that's all part of the marketing campaign.
I have installed this product on a few properties and overall I have some mixed feelings about it, so I will start with the positives:
Pros:
- Easy to install - Yes this product is ridiculously easy to fit into almost any gutter, you must first first clear out the existing muck and leaves etc and then just lay the Hedgehog in the base of the gutter - easy. You will need a wire cutter just to trim the end of length but otherwise no specialist tools are required.
- Ease of purchase - Unlike some products on the market this wasn't too difficult to get hold of and is for sale on Amazon in many countries. Delivery is therefore completed in a few days, again a big plus.
- Cost - This wasn't the cheapest product but I have seen many that are far more expensive. Overall I thought it was reasonably priced.
If you are not interested in this product then try buying a gutter cleaning tool instead.

The Negatives
As with any product there is always a downside, so here are a few things I didn't like about this product:
Cons:
- If you have a lot of pine trees overhanging your roof then don't expect this product to keep them out of the gutter - the Hedgehog will allow small bits to enter the gutter and before long you will have to unblock the product by removing it and giving it a good shake, same goes for other small particles that fall on the roof.
- I used some large cable ties around the guttering and the hedgehog to prevent the wind from lifting out out of the gutter - these were not supplied with the product, I had to buy them separately.
- I could see the product from ground level. That is not acceptable to everyone so bear it in in mind. It wasn't so much of an issue for me but might look a bit odd on a bungalow or low level extension where it will be more noticeable.
