Be a Man, Fix the Toilet Seat Hinges!
Toilet seat hinges are those things that used to hold your toilet seat firmly on the WC. A toilet seat might not seem to be a very important part but if just one hinge goes missing, it can cause a great deal of discomfort when using the toilet. While it might not happen, but the possibility to fall off from the seat is there. The seat might slip and cause you to fall.
There are two main types of toilet seat hinges, the one that made from plastic and the one that made from chrome. So in case, if you need to buy a new pair of hinges, you might need to bring the old one to the hardware store with you so that you won't be buying the wrong size and kind. Before I forget, you won't need to buy a whole new toilet seat if one of the hinge gone missing or broken. They can be sold separately.
Buying hinges for an ordinary or universal toilet seat is easy as all hardware store should carry them. Ordinary hinges are made of plastic and the fit all type of universal seat, so don't worry of getting the wrong kind one.
On the other hand, if you have a specific brand and model of WC, you might need to hunt for it. The best way of getting a pair of hinges for the same model is through the dealer or store that you purchase the seat.
However, there is a possibility that you might have to wait for the stock to come as most stores would not carry a lot of stock of the same models. The market for branded piece is very limited if you would like to compare with the universal type. The best thing that you can do is contact the agent or distributor directly. Distributors normally will have quite a lot of stocks but they might not want to deal with the customer directly.
Fixing the toilet seat hinges on to the seat is very easy and you would most probably have figured it out once you see the whole thing. But in case, if you still don't know, there's always an installation guide that comes together with the hinges that you purchase (this might not be true for the universal model). Anyway, the only tools that you need are a screwdriver and a small plyer. (note: below is a video shows how to fix a toilet seat)
Sometimes, the hinge that holds your toilet seat is not broken, the bolt that holds the screw might has loosened and this can make the seat slide. To fix it, just get the right size of screwdriver and tighten it but always do it as soon as possible before the thing gets broken or worsen.
Installing New Toilet Seat Hinges
You can buy toilet seat hinges (only in pair) online and have your choice of several different types. Just take care to measure carefully and make sure that you are getting the kind that you need. Also, be sure to read the return policy of the website you do business with so that you know that you can return it if it turns out to be the wrong kind. As mentioned before, if your WC and seat is of specific brand and model, you really have to go back to the same dealer as other toilet seat hinges would not fit it.
Ordinary toilet seat hinges do not cost much, it might be lesser than ten bucks but for those branded, you might have to expect to pay more.
