What would cause a constant buzzing sound inside a house?

I know this sounds like the set up for a joke, but it isn't. There's a constant high-pitching buzzing sound in the back addition on my house. It's hard to locate precisely but seems to be coming from a wall. If you step outside, you can't hear it. It's not an insect noise. My spouse, who is slightly deaf, can't hear it, but I can. It isn't me as I ONLY hear it back there. Any thoughts? (Hold the jokes, please.)

Thank you! I had the sense it was electrical and that it is in the back wall somewhere. There was also some recent work outside on the electrical wire and a new electrical pole was put up. This does give me at least a start.
