What motivates you to clean house?
Do you listen to music, have company coming, you love to clean? I hate cleaning, I never have motivation to clean but it has to get done.
By looking at it. You can tell when the turtle's tank needs to be cleaned, or the floor should be swept, when the laundry gets to high. I actually like cleaning when the energy exists inside me. Just turn on the radio and get going. Though the laundry takes the longest, the entire house can be cleaned in 5 hours if I eat beforehand.
I'm really procrastinating on the cleaning lately. My daughter left for college 6 weeks ago and I haven't touched her room. I really need to clean it before she comes home on break. When she was around I kept the house real clean because of all her friends coming over, but now, the whole house looks like her room.
But I did clean her cat yesterday. I gave him a bath. He scratched me, as usual, and whined the whole time.
Either it really needs to be clean or visitors are expected. You just have to do it. Plus when you know people could just stop by at any time, you usually try to keep things relatively clean.
I have a husband who loves to cook and I also have a golden retriever who loves to shed. The dog also loves to look out the window in our glass door (nose marks). Those things really put a fire under me. I usually clean fairly thoroughly once a week. I love the satisfaction of a clean house.
I've always enjoyed having a clean house. As a child, our house was messy and it drove me crazy. Once I had my own place, I kept it clean. Now that I'm working at home, it is essential for me to keep it clean. If it's messy, I'm in a terrible mood. It just makes me happy to have things looking tidy (not perfect by any means).

So I'm finally moving into my new apt. next week. It has been cleaned of course, but I have no idea if the carpet was steam cleaned.I'm thinking of steam cleaning it the day before I move in. I could add mildew additives to kill any mildew and prevent new, something I worry about here in...
