I've always called it a sofa. Not to be confused with a chaise lounge - I've always wanted one of those.

Sofa.  It's easier to say and to me, sounds better.

I'm from South Africa, hence our European heritage, I call it a "couch".

I usually call it a settee. Surely I'm not the only one? No, my family all say settee. Oh dear, now I'm talking to myself. Better go.

Here in Ireland, we use both couch and sofa interchangeably. It is hard to decide which word is used most. Another word we use for the same thing is settee but not as much as couch and sofa.

Couch.  My mom used to call it a davenport, I've never used that one.  Not sure why I use couch rather than sofa.

Couch. Sofa seems a little uptight for a place that is meant for relaxation.
