What's your biggest challenge managing your house and family?

Curious what are the biggest challenges other face with managing your house and family? Is it time management? Organization? Meals? Or something else?

Good question. Because my wife usually does more than I do by taking care of our crippled daughter that can not walk, and must use a wheelchair, I help by shopping for the right food. It is a challenge to stretch food dollars so we try to cook a lot of food, and buy food on sale.
As a man I think I have done very well by finding good deals. Look for sales on meat items. Learn to cook meat, carrots, and potatoe stews. Another challenge involves trying to pay bills down, and trying to keep important items running like our family car. Running a home is a responsibility that requires managing money. It costs a lot of money to run a home because we live good, and I want my family to eat healthy.

    Thank You , and GBY.

My husband is totally disabled. I am his caretaker. Trying to keep his dietary requirements straight (he is diabetic, has high cholesterol, and a heart problem), while on a very tight fixed income is extremely difficult. His diabetes is meat and veggies, light on the legumes. His cholesterol and heart is little meat, veggies, and mostly legumes. No carbs at all allowed. Between the three of them, the only thing they share is the veggies. He thinks he needs to be a meat and taters guy.

Actually it's paying all the bills on time. Besides that time management is a big issue.

Finding a place for everything is a big challenge to me. If I bring something home, I get frustrated when I have to find a place for it - like when I buy food in bulk. Buying in bulk might save me money in the long run, but in the present time, bulk takes up more space. In a small house, that can be a challenge. Suddenly, I don't have space in my pantry or refrigerator/freezer. That's the kind of thing that drives me crazy.

Paying bills because you want to pay your own seperate bills but at the same time, help with the house with other bills as well.

Time management is all my concern to put everything on its place. I'm raising five kids, and their age range from 11,10,7,5 and a 1 yr-old baby. Next is keeping my house clean and tidy all the time. And preparing healthy and nutritious food because kids need those.

Hi, for me its trying to keep up with all of the bills. I have to work and its hard to get things done. I have to try to keep a home equity loan and a second mortgage paid up to date. I have to keep the lawn up, but so far it keeps raining.

Since I am a "household" of one, my biggest challenge is the fact that all the housework is my sole responsibility.  Keeping things clean, keeping up with the (outside) yardwork and keeping up with maintenance is quite challenging, and sometimes overwhelming for me.

I just recently left my parents house and my biggest problem has been managing my money so I can afford the things I need. I'm still working on getting my first book published and sometimes I get the worst cases of shopper's remorse from buying things like popcorn and dish soap.

It will be my children as they will facing challenges in school. I help in whatever way I can so that they can cope with education. I know it is their biggest step into the working world when they finish their studies. So, I have to manage it and making sure it goes well.

Thank you everyone for all your answers. I find I have many of the same challenges in my house - from bills to time management. I think, to add to the list, is getting everyone in the family on the same page. At times I know what help or accomplishments that I want done and I have verbal support from my husband, but it still never seems to happen. In the end, I find I have more things to do on my list than I should.
