hoarding

   My relative moved out of my mom's house, leaving a huge mess for me and my sister tp clean up. HUGE mess. Not only was she a hoarder, but it was a true pig sty. you don't want to know the details.
   
   it is literally going to take weeks to clean up. we are getting a dumpster.
   
   Do I have the right to be angry about this? Or should i have sympathy? I feel guilty for being mad. She is obviously ill in some way.

      Both. Hoarders are sick in the head people, but it still causes one to be angry. I know because I have one in my family and I can't do anything about it. We've gotten a dumpster twice and cleaned out their garage, but it is back full within a couple of months. How, I have no idea. I send you my sympathies.

      In my experience, women are nesters, in general.  I do not like clutter. For me, everything is a lot easier if you can find things. I feel comfortable if an area is clutter free. On the other hand, I think the women that work at the same place I do, feel more comfortable if they are surrounded by lots of stuff. Like a fluffy Turkeys nest, so I feel your frustration.

   Anger is a natural response. It's just as natural and justified as any other emotion and/or feeling. No one should tell you how you "should" feel...you feel as you feel. Embrace that. Sit with it. What can you do with it?
   
   When I'm angry or upset, I use it. I use that frustration to be my fuel to get things done and in this instance, it would come in very handy. Anger gets the adrenaline flowing...when you embrace that concept, use it with the clean up. It's productive and a healthy way to "vent" not to mention you will then have loads of energy to accomplish a daunting task. It can be a win/win.
