   Real estate.   Not a primary home, but a multi-family home, apartment building, or commerical building that you can rent out.   Rental income will yield far better returns than a traditional stock market investments.   If you already have a non- company sponsored 401k, you can structure it to make investments in real estate.

   I agree with real estate. Rental property is never a bad investment (unless you buy it for more than worth). I prefer tax sale properties because even if the owner reclaims the property during the first year, you get 3 to 12% interest here. If they don't reclaim it you then have a good owner finance or rental property to get money from on a monthly basis. Where I live you can buy tax properties for as little as $200. Can't beat that when your first rental collection will cover the cost.

   The best investment you can make in 2013 is to get out of debt. Most Americans have debt ratios that are unsustainable. It's time that debt reduction becomes the new "hot" investment in America.  Protect yourself and your family........get out of debt...gain your true freedom...and live free.of debt.

   Anyone who tells you that they know what will be the best vehicle for any given year is kidding themselves.  While I have opinions...Often it takes years to come to fruition.   When it comes to investing, you should always be focused on a longer term asset allocation plan that incorporates all asset clases...equities, commodities, reit's, fixed income and cash equvialents etc.  It's ok to be somewhat tactical in your allocation.  Most investors are not interested in longer duration fixed income holdings with rates as low as they are.  So you may use short to intermediate fixed income as one example of being tactical.  But trying to time short term price movements is an excercise in futility.  Especially at a time when there is so much intervention from the Federal Reserve distorting asset prices.
