If you were to be laid off tomorrow, how would you make ends meet?
First I'll look out for another job for couple of weeks. If I'll get one, its good otherwise I may look out for some business options with whatever money I have after keeping some money to meet daily needs.
The best preparation for such an event is to have accumulated savings. Personal Finance Guru Dave Ramsey recommends saving 6 month's worth of expenses saved up, which is very wise counsel. The reality is that most people don't have anything close to this saved up.
It is also wise to give some thought as to which expenses are truly vital: meals out? Vacations? That new car you've had your eye on? Perhaps these can wait for better days.
Other bills are must-pay: electricity, groceries, rent. The consequences of not paying these are rather dire.
Get a part time job first, then apply to as many jobs as possible.
If you are tech savvy you might try and earn money online, but only do so after getting a job - Rome wasn't built in a day, and most online success stories take months if not years to materialise.
Freelancing on Odesk, Elance or craigslist. Selling stuff on ebay.
He who gave the job in the first instance knows when it will end. So, I look up to Him to bless the work of my hands as I will be on my own with Him by my side. Surely the ends must meet.
