When you have had a hard period, which knocks you down to a very low place. How would you best...
advise me/us ti snap out of it.x This time last year I was so happy, had a brilliant job, lost loads of weight, was able to help out my mother etc and then next thing, made redundant job just taken away, this was 6months ago, still unemployed gained all the weight back, low thought process of myself etc. I feel stuck, try reading my positive books secret etc, still here in this dark place.
Sometimes I fall into a hard place too. I am unemployed, other than house cleaning, baby-sitting and constantly applying to a failing work system, but I don't feel horrible about myself. I am overweight, but I fill my life with things that make other feel good. I find that when I help others, even when I have no money to give, it makes me feel good and it makes them feel good. You don't need money to give time to others.
What I suggest is doing some community work. Sometimes it leads to more opportunities than most people think. If you have a special skill or talent, maybe you could go somewhere and entertain someone with it. Even scrap booking can help. Maybe going to a hospital, nursing home or somewhere like that, and getting an activity for them to do with you. If you're not a people person, then an animal shelter might be a better option.
If community work doesn't do anything for you, then there are other activities you could do. Maybe instead of reading those particular books, you could pick an entirely new theme to try. Maybe shake things up a bit.
If you want to message me, you can at any time. I hope this comment helps you.
I was restructured out of my job last fall and for the first time in 26 years I find myself unemployed and like you, I'm frustrated and having a hard time. Sometimes you just have to let the feelings vent and cry, curse, yell or let it out and then move on.
I agree with Phoebe that volunteer work helps me, but so does meditation and postively affirming myself that things will be successful again. I'm trying to make it positive by reinventing myself and learning new things also.
I also pray for strength and guidance and that seems to help me too.
Fiona, I'm sorry I didn't see this until just now. For me when I'm at my lowest, I write. I cleanse my brain by writing poetry. Once I get the feelings out I seek out "light" people. You know the ones that see the best in you, smile big and bright, and help you find your smile too. Surround yourself with that kind of energy. Easier to attract good stuff into a circle of love for damn sure.
I think too many of us are in that black hole much much love to you
Thank You all so much, I ffeel touch from your responses I really do, as you have taken the time out to answer my question. I am still in the same boat and applying hard to so many appointments and keeping the faith, or should I say tying too. I listen to LBC Radio here in London and so many people out there are in the same boat as me, I am thinking do we blame out gov..smile..

I Live close to Dayton Ohio. Many, many people are unemployed. There are a few technical jobs on the net and some very close to minimum wage jobs in the area. Companies downsizing or going out of business is an everyday conversation here. There are "For Rent" signs all over...

How should parents deal with lazy, unemployed, still-live-with-Mom-and-Dad adult children? It's one thing if your child loses his job and has to move back home, but how do you deal with one that won't even look for work, thinks you should still provide for all their needs (clean their room, wash...

What do you wish you could change about your body, and what are you doing to alter it?Most people have something they dislike about their bodies (what I dislike seems to change on a day to day basis). What do you dislike about yours, and are you doing anything to change it (if it can be changed)?

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
