   should i close my bank account before i file bankruptcy
   
   will it effect the little bit of funds that i have im my accoint and will it effect my tax refund

   You need to talk to an attorney who can advise you on legal matters. I work as a paralegal in a firm that handles bankruptcy and I can tell you that you have certain rights and exemptions that may allow you to keep your money and tax refund, depending on how much money you have and the size of the refund. Bottom line: TALK TO AN ATTORNEY.

   If you are afraid of them taking your money, it is not likely that will  happen.But if you have a credit to  card through them that is listed in the bankruptcy, they may take their money from the account. Not sure about this.
   
   If you have no other debts with them, they have no reason to lock your account. Some banks will lock your account automatically.
   
   I would call the bank and ask them about their policy regarding accounts that file bankruptcy. That is probably the most straight forward thing to do.

   It should have no effect on your bank account.   You are not allowed to hide assets in a bankruptcy filing.   
   
   Bottom line, consult an attorney.  It will cost you a couple of hundred dollars, but it could save you thousands of dollars.

   When you file for bankruptcy, it is critical to provide back up for all of the claims you make on your bankruptcy documents. Closing your accounts is rarely recommended by attorneys.
