Whether or not this situation is covered by your accidental death insurance depends on the fine print in your policy. Your life insurance company is typically required to outline in your policy exactly what is covered under accidental death insurance (although this varies by state). If your policy doesn't outline this then murder is typically covered under accidental death unless the policy specifically states an exemption. For example, some accidental death policies say that they won't pay out if the death is caused because of engaging in criminal activities. So let's say that you're a drug dealer and one of your "clients" breaks into your home and kills you. You may not be covered. That's the general answer - but you should always read your policy and check with your own insurance agent to be sure about these things.

Probably not.  Accidental death and dismemberment policies almost never pay out.  It is a gimmick, don't buy it.
