Quizzle can give you a decent snapshot of your credit with all of the details about your credit history and current credit.  It is free to register and allows you to get a new report every 6 months.  Dont do freecreditreport.com they require a credit card to register and are absolutely a pain to ever cancel with.

Go to http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consume … cre34.shtm and it will give you directions to get the big three.

You can also go to www.annualcreditreport.com to get a free credit report.  Legislation was passed several years ago that allows everyone the right to get their credit report free one time a year.  You can get a free report from each one of the credit reporting agencies here in the US.  I would refer my clients here when I worked for the debt settlement company. The three credit reporting agencies are Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. You can either get all three at one time, or get your report from one and wait a few months and then request your report from another, and so on.

Also, if you have been denied credit recently, I believe it is within a year, your can call any of these agencies and they must give you your credit report for free, all you have to do is request it.

sgbrown is correct.  Get your free credit reports (1 from each of the credit agencies) once each year at www.annualcreditreport.com, but you will not get your credit score.  You have to pay for your credit scores.
When you apply for a loan, particularly a mortgage or equity line of credit, the loan company will provide your credit scores that their decision was based on.
