Hi,
I think it depends who 'they' are and what you might be joining? At the end of the day I don't think you should compromise your beliefs just because you feel you are not winning.
Yes, we have to choose are battles carefully and make alliances whenever possible. Look at Ron Paul. He is a well known libertarian, but runs as a republican.
Even America made good with Pakistan when it decided to go after al Qaeda in Afghanistan.
Mrs. Clinton vs. Obama at first, now she is working for his administration.
Of course, alliances can quickly shift when we make friends with enemies. For a while we allied with Iraq against Iran, but later we turned against them.
No, I believe in cold hard karma. If you can't beat em' now, it will come around and bite them right back.
I like Seeker7's answer. I'm not a fan of such a defeatist and passive way of thinking. If there's someone I'd otherwise have wanted to "beat" that implies they're someone who has very different thinking/aims than I do. I'm not one to "join anybody or anything" that isn't in keeping with my own aims, values, beliefs, principles, etc.
I may not necessarily try to get them to do things my way (in fact, most of the time I've fine respecting whatever it is someone else prefers). I won't join them, though. I'd rather stand alone on something. Worst case, I remain alone. Better case, some people start joining me. Best case, the people I couldn't "beat" eventually realize they couldn't beat me - and join me and those with me. Either way, I win.
not usually. i hate being a follower unless it is for a good cause and even then it depends on who is leading the cause.
wrong! why join someone with opinions or thinking not acceptable to you? If I can't beat them, I'll stay away from them. I'd rather be alone than join someone doing things I cannot tolerate.... I believed that Birds of the same feathers flocks together. Well, better look for someone with the same morale as yours.
It depends. If it's something not worth joining, then, No way! I have my own free will, I can make my own choices and I have my own principles to uphold. I wouldn't want to compromise any of that for something not worth it.

Is it wrong to have a dream about another person, when you're with someone?I mean, we can't control what we dream about while asleep, right?

I decided to join the HubChallenge because I want to build my portfolio and a good challenge will keep me working. I hope this is the right way to join because I found the instructions to be a bit confusing. Anyway, I will post any links to my hubs in the proper forum. I look forward to the...

If I were to join Pintrest and use it for my creative writing hubs, would I join it as a business? I'm asking because I'm kind of considering joining it. What would be the best way to go about this? Any advice? Is it worth it since I do creative writing and poetry? Thanks in advance!

On trying to turn on the ad program I get an error message. HP Team says they are trying to fix it, but that was 2 days ago.Is anyone else having the same problem? Is this new or has it been going on for longer?

The right-wing camp is constantly calling for Hillary's imprisonment, even though they have spent 30+ years and countless MILLIONS of tax payer dollars to 'investigate' her, ridicule her, accuse her of wrongdoing, insinuate that she is 'crooked', a murderer, a liar, a cheat, and more. The...
