In light of the tragedy in Japan will world governments now take safer energy alternatives seriously
World governments have never seriously invested in the development of safer and sounder energy sources with the goal of replacing dangerous existing ones. Will they now?
I doubt that the worlds government leaders for the most part can do much of anything without having a considerable degree of control over what is being manufactured and why!
Many of us believe that in order for the government or, we the people have the right to control how we as a people produce the goods and services we need and to limit the freedom of private enterprise in order to prevent corporate takeover of our government which we call fasism while at the same time utilizing private enterprises need to be frugle in it's business dealings in order to kept it going and use it's profits to improve upon it's increased production of goods and or services.
That said Energy cartels who some say have bought up many energy inventions in order to keep them off the market as well as the politicians they contribute campaign funds to and the lobbyists they pay are all not willing to give up that money from the increase in the cost of energy we pay for as well as all the taxes the government gets and the profits they bring the energy corporations in order to bring out new technologies that would compete with their current energy production. It's like telling them you need to make less money. How many corporations do you know that are willing to do that?
This is a really good question and hopefully, some consideration will be made, but I tend to doubt it. It seems that even after Three Mile Island & Chernobyl, all the nuclear industry did was create more "fail-safes", which may address certain issues, but don't speak to the basic dangers of this energy source. Let's face it, the BP spill in the Gulf of Mexico did NOTHING to change the oil industry and the reverberating effects of that tragedy will last for decades. GREED & corruption trump safety and human lives.
In the long term everything will always revert back to capitalism over ecology. However, whilst the world attention is on the crisis in Japan let's get them to pay attention now.
I have put some very good reasons why they need to take notice of the current plight that I am personally experiencing over here in Japan. If you only read one article on my hub then read the aftermath one because if this does not get addressed sufficiently there is going to be more problems which will echo the devastation of the tsunami on the eastern coast. Not only in Japan but globally.
