   No, I don't think I would.  As hard as it may be to believe, we do have a few good politicians who have the best interests of this country in their hearts.
   
   I don't believe that hiring unskilled labor for these jobs would be in our best interest.  What we need is a really good ethics committee that will actually do their job and punish those politicians who sell out this country for personal gain.
   
   I would like to see a really accurate report card on every elected representative prior to election time.  Under our present system it is nearly impossible to use their voting records as a benchmark on how they think because of bill bundling.  They are sometimes forced to vote yes or no on a bill that is stuffed with last minute pork that makes them look bad, but they were really voting on the main issue.  The only way to fix this would be to have every bill brought up for vote to be a stand alone bill with not hidden content that serves on a few of our citizens.
   
   Lobbyists are the worst enemy we have.  They get paid to have things included into bills of major importance to we citizens that have nothing to do with the issues being voted on.
   
   This could be fixed, but I doubt it ever will because this is now the Washington Way.

      Would only mental invalids do it then or only billionaires over 65 do it. I would do it because I am retired and that kind of wage would just be spending cash - but the perks, sure. I would stay here in Cal. to do it. My wife and kids are hired.

      Funny but I just love lobbyists when they advocate something I like or want.  One could like environmentalist, medical, BLM or Nat'l Fraternal order of police, Sierra Club and NAACP come to mind. Maybe child's rights advocates.

   Since Congress nor any President has upheld the constitution, as http://hubpages.com/politics/HOW-TO-GOV … TUTIONALLY so reveals, YES, minimum wages and benefits while serving and eliminating all post service benefits for congress would be, in my opinion, the appropriate compensation for their services. As for the president, with everything needed from food to every form of transportation being provided him, I suggest the nation's minimum minimum wage, they differ in different states which shows this nation is not united, should be his only income. He has no need for money while serving and that would be enough for him to return to being We The People upon leaving office.

   Most people that become politicians don't do it for the money they do it for the power, and control. But, I would vote on putting federal government workers on parity with what is available to the average private sector worker. Check out the benefits for federal workers and then compare them with those in the private sector.
   
   The big advantage for federal government workers is that the government by definition can't go bankrupt, and that these federals are unionized. They have as public servants the benefits of a master, while their real master, the people, have the benefits of a servants. The roles are reversed.
   
   Check out the Federal Employee Retirement System, and Federal Employee Health System, and then look at all their paid time off, vacations, sick leave, personal leave etc. Then there is the job security, while most private sector workers run under the At Will Employment Contract, the fed workers don't lose their jobs. The At Will contract is unilateral, either the worker agrees on they don't get or keep their job.
   
   Maybe if we equalized the public and the private sector there would be more empathy in Washington, and more understanding of how bad it is for private sector workers.

      True but the amount of the money the politicians make in salary puts them in the middle class. It would be better to give them term limits. imo
