   Yeah I think, there are more important cause than this which concerns the whole world... And enough importance has been laid on this issue...
   The situation is getting worse now, as if anything bad happens, than men are only blamed and women are never... whatever they do, women are considered better in any case at the first no matter whether they are right or wrong...

   All I have to say on the matter is women since the 60s have been trying to mold men to be more like women and now we have from my observations  a generation of men who are now more soft and sensitive and nuetered. So they got what they wanted and now they complain because they can't find a real man. And yes in the pursuit of equality it went too making men the oppressors and now the NY Times wrote an article a year ago that women are more unhappy then they were 40 years ago. So ladies be careful what you wish for because you might get it !

   In an effort to force equality we have created imbalance.   It is men, themselves, who have become devalued for what they are and have always been in favor of some 60s construct of what men and women are supposed to be.  It is the idea that men and women are the same that has devalued both and the unique qualities that make them actually different. It is the foolish notion that we can, by law, remove all differences from men and women.  This degrades and devalues both.

   It is odd, though the discrimination topic has become poisoned water and almost of no effect or sometimes reversely detrimental. From what I can see, the unenforceable treatment between the sexes, favors men still and a little more courtesy between the genders would be nice to see.

   I would not EMPATHIZE with this position- Of what "rights of men" do you speak? I have never once in my life felt oppressed for being a man.
   I think that this is a vague question- but in general i would say that the role of democratic government is to empower as many given segments of population as possible, and that even IF men have been slightly disempowered in some areas (again, speaking in generalities here), overall the balance of social and electoral power is much more even between the genders than it has ever been.

   In cases such as abortion, I would say so.  A woman can choose to terminate a pregnancy for any reason at any time, and yet her partner (without whom there would be no baby) is not given any say in the matter at all.
   
   Methinks something is rotten in the state of Denmark...

    Devaluated our rights......I don't know, maybe. I see a changing role for men that is yet to be completely defined.
    
    Women have almost always had something to fight towards, having kept their "eye on the prize", they started with voting rights, then equal education, equal employment opportunity, equal pay, birth control, sexual liberation, reproductive rights (abortion), and so on. Up until men in America began to recognize womens equality, we had pretty much insisted they remained subserviant.
    
    As a result of the new place women hold in our society, mens roles have now changed, and most of us are just too damn "neanderthal" to accept it. I include myself in the statement, I'm still too primitive, just ask my wife! As much we may like to set the clock back a hundred years or so, I just don't see it happening.
    
    Tony 0724 is right, we have allowed ourselves to be pigeon-holed into some psuedo emasculated shadow of what our grandfathers were. Women expect us to be overly sensitive teddy bears at one end of the spectrum, and testerone filled cro-magnon at the other end.......I think I'm rambling here, because I don't really have a reasonable answer.
