Should the U.S. Military allow men and woman to take showers together?
It only makes sense now that Gay's and Lesbians can be open about there sexuality. Why not just create one facility for everyone to just have one big shower party. I wouldn't mind taking a shower with Jessica Alba or Salma Hayek next to me either. Seriously! Removing the Don't ask Don't tell policy was the biggest mistake America ever made. I have no problem with people being Gay or Lesbian and keeping it to themselves. It's there life whatever. Its just disgusting what our men and woman are forced to live with under Obama's Policies.
My husband (being in the army) has this theory on this, which I am not sure I agree with. He isn't a homophobe btw, but his theory is that if they allow people to be openly gay in the army, that men and woman should be able to shower together. I tried to explain to him that whether they allowed it or not that homosexuals would still be in the military. However, as his wife of course I don't like the thought of this. I do understand where he is coming from though. I think that allowing men and woman to shower together would definitely be a sexual assault/harassment lawsuit just waiting to happen.
I agree with the point of your statements, eculligan.
And yeah it's only one step away from it all becoming a big orgy-inducing thing. Maybe people will wise up when our military becomes a bed of chaos. If those weaknesses haven't already got us all bombed by the terrorists by then.
Open male homosexuals showering with fellow male soldiers could be perceived as sexual harrassment by some male soldiers. Likewise open female homosexuals showering with fellow female soldiers could make some female soldiers very uncomfortable. I think there should be one shower for male and female homosexuals together so they can rather deal with the issue amongst themselves.
Secondly, homosexuals were somewhat 'protected' under the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy, if one considers Islamic/American wars. Being 'out of the closet' now makes them a prime target for radical Muslims that will surely kill them, for this is the penalty according to Sharia Law.
Having been in the military, I can honestly say that I do not see this as a good idea. It walks the tight rope much like the gay issue in the military. At least with don't ask don't tell, there was a basic policy as to how things should be approached. Now...who knows. From a different angle, I think you will find that most women are quite modest and do not look positively on exposing themselves and the little flaws they see to every man in the unit. Check out a few women's restrooms versus those of men...they are designed around modesty considerations. Open demonstration of sexual preference in the military is an overall bad idea. A man and a woman demonstrating high levels of affection at the local base BX is just as wrong as two gay guys doing the same thing. I have no problem with you having a sexual perference, just don't make me have to be a part of it by rubbing it in my face...it is bad business in the workplace and even worse business in the military. WB
Are you completely out of your mind? The American public may tolerate gays and lesbians being in the military but they would never tolerate men and women openly sharinf showers in the military. I really doubt some of the news we see about how many people really go along with the demise of DADT...
I served for 25 years and know that gays and lesbians probably served at the same time I did but they had the good sence to keep their mouths shut about their sexual orientation.
Letting men and women shower together would really undue discipline and good order in the military and we'd see the pregnancy rate of un-wed mothers in the military go way up and we'd see the divorce rate of military members so way up too.
This is a little off topic, but that's because the topic has already been hashed, rehashed, and eviscerated - and ultimately my opinions are my own, and therefore inconsequential to anyone who disagrees with me. Oh hell, I can't help it. Gays in the military is a non-issue given imaginary teeth by lobbyists and politicians. It does nothing to further the protection of the States. It's about social reform, or it's perceived need. And as far as same sex showers go, conserving water is always a good idea. I do think women in the military might object. We guys just aren't all that sexy in the shower.
There I said it. Some of it.
Here's my point. I am not "forced" to live under any president's policies. I live under my own roof. I am a self-governing individual who, while very savagely pro patria, refuses to accept that anyone outside of my self or my family can "force" me to do or accept anything. Take that as far as you want to. Me I'll take it as far as my life dictates. It's a lot of fun, this mindset. I suggest culturing it for yourselves. It's crucial to the continued success of the American experiment. And it's an integral part of our history.
I am open to anything...even conserving water.
I wrote a hub on this subject a few days ago titled "Get 'em, Girls!"
Check it out.

Interestingly you are forced - the best slaves are the ones who do so willingly, you do not self-govern and you do not own anything...You ARE owned and told exactly what to do, be, and think. Consider it well.
I truly believe they should let homosexual shower with women, and lesbians shower with men..
So instead of me fantasising about being the fly on the wall in the guys showers.. I would pretend to be a lesbian..
Clearly gay/straight shared showers may be an issue that has to be thought about. Maybe individual cubicles like those "family changers" in swimming pools could be a solution. However, men/women it's a different issue so why complicating the story?
There would be a lot of frightened women in the military. Men do not sexually harass other men as much as men sexually harass women.
haha, funny thought but i think we can all imagine the tension there would be. it would certainly be a bad idea. professionalism is important in the military and that would definitely open the door for some problems, disrespect, misconduct, etc...so no, they should'nt
Naw . . . they put their lives on the line for us . . . now they have to sacrifice what little privacy they have in addition.
Are you afraid that straight men and women are going to be lured into gay orgies because of this? That's stupid. Are you really so insecure in your sexuality that you would jump at the chance to have sex with a man as soon as the opportunity presented itself. Do you think this is a problem with other straight people? Because it isn't.
Should you allow your daughter who is in the military to do that. What ever answer you come up with, answers the question.
My Question was asked to see how people really felt about Gays and Lesbians now being opened with there sexuality in the Military. I was making a point to hear the reaction of people who would oppose men and women showering together to simply speak out for our men and womens concerns, ideally. That same reaction would be how our men and women feel about the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy being removed." Our men and women today in basic training and active duty now have to shower with Gays and Lesbians, which are now officially out of the military closet. Yes, you can conserve water, but for how long. Interesting posts from people really put things into perspective.
1) Yes, I would not want my daughter showering with a bunch of men either! Asked by 123Chri123
2) No, I never thought straight men and women would be lured into gay orgies because of this. In fact, the opposite. I see people perhaps getting killed over this. Thats my concern.
Your point Julie Logan does not really make much sense at all.
3) Yes, Wayne Brown hit it. I am a former military Army soldier as well and agree that military means discipline. Men and women should not be kissing at the local PX. And yes, there is no way any women would want to shower with a bunch of men anyway. Good points
4) I agree with all that the military now should address the showering issue and shouldn't have showers out in the open. If someone drops the soap, "Now knowing," it could easily get someone killed.
5) To remove this policy overall was a really bad idea for all communities. It puts Gays and Lesbians at risk of getting killed, and our soldiers are now forced to shower in the open with them. Its better to just not know of peoples sexual preference anyway. The military is about professionalism and nobody should be talking openly about there sexual preferences and experiences anyway.
Thanks for all of your feedback to my question.
"Removing the Don't ask Don't tell policy was the biggest mistake America ever made."
Really guy? Really? The biggest one EVER made? I can make a list of 5 in less than a minute that top this one.
I mean they're already showering together right now, and have been in every military in the history of man. Nothing's really changing. If you played sports in high school, playing the odds, you showered with a gay man too. It's just really not a big deal.

Do you care if you shower with some one of the LGBT community? I'm talking about in armed forces. Honestly I have to ask because of this ''Should the U.S. Military allow men and woman to take showers together?'' I underst and how some straights may feel but at the end of the day if you showered in...

We have been invited to a baby shower. Both men and women were invited. My husband is flabbergasted and says it is in bad taste (primarily because he doesn't want to go, I think). He says it is wrong.I say, why not? I'm actually relieved, since it probably means we won't have to play stupid parlor...

Why do some people think men and women have different sexual desires when it takes two to tango?A married man cheats on his wife with cyber porn, but, the one he cheats with is a woman? Aren't they both hypersexual? It seems that there is always an excuse for married men to justify their...

Can a gay man be attracted to a specific girl, but not women in general, and still be gay, not bi?As a writer, i'm wondering if it's possible for a gay or straight character to be attracted to a person of the gender that opposes their typical sexuality? Like, a gay person to be in love with a...

Hi, folks, the link that I provide is from an article written by Patrick Buchanan, not one of my favorite guys. He is blunt in his opinion and I think just as wrong. http://news.yahoo.com/pentagons-surrend … 00599.html
