I'm not going to provide any commentary here, I just found his view interesting and thought I would share.
That is the conservatism I remember... I never thought I would say this but I miss it, it was reasonable and realistic and it didn't have the extremist overtones it has acquired largely thanks to the Tea Party as Stockman points out, real conservatives of the past would have no time or use for the current batch of loons making up the GOP or their policies which are blatantly designed to aid only the wealthy.
We have to go back to the McCarthy era to find the hysteria, paranoia and extremism to match the modern GOP, once everyone who disagreed was an evil communist now everyone who disagrees is an evil socialist who wants to steal your freedom.
Just bumping it back to the top as everyone should see this.
Reminds me that there was a time when conservatives had integrity and principles.
Now for a conservative politician to succeed he has to pander to the goofy and mis-educated far right.

A comment I just read says it succinctly"By drawing down US forces in Syria to zero and Afghanistan to half, he has exposed his paltry grasp on what actually keeps Americans, their interests, and global stability on an even keel." - Nic Robertson

Why is it that Tea Party type hubs won't post comments from anyone that doesn't see things their...way? Everytime I got to a right wing conservative hub and make a valid arguement about a topic, they won't post my comment. It's like a love fest on those sights, surely not everyone on this site is a...
