I plan to write a Hub about this Topic - but - first I hope to see some views from the Hubland Community.  It's a rather touchy subject at that.  Skimming the surface to name a few reasons - HIV - AIDS - STD's , Rape, Prostitution, Incest, Strip Clubs, Black Market Sex Slaves, Abortion. etc...
Do you think Money has a new partner in this progressing New Age World?

The statement is "the love of money is the root of all evil".  Neither money nor sex are innately evil.

Sorry about the verse being written incorrectly - yet - the love of sex  could then be included if sex and money are used for a wrong purpose.

I get where you are going with this, but my opinion is people are the root of all evil. If we got rid of sex and money people would find something else. It is not the object that is the problem it's the brains of those involved.

I believe the only reason, root, for evil is because man came to like some thing and dislike others, the  disliked things became evil, thus, disliking is the root of all evil.

The Bible, where that quote comes from btw, says that it is the heart of man that is the issue. Mt. 15:19 "For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander."

This Time and Age is full of the content of that Verse.  The Heart and Mind in how one uses sex, and  money determines the wrongness or evil of it.  This must center around Juidgment Day.

I agree with you, though would add...
That when it comes to the evil of poverty and how money relates to it... it seems that many are completely r**ted by the absence of money!  smile

      +1. I agee with Peeples.
IMOwn personal opinion, evil lies in the mind(heart?) of horrible natured people. What some call a "bad seed". Period. It needs no root.

You can't have good without evil and vice versa, so something has always got to be evil, and what that is depends on how you look at things if you ask me.

Excessive love for both is the root of all evil, I guess.

I know a good number of people who have much love for money, but cant be described as evil or having wierd evil thoughts. Same applies with sex too.

sex between two consenting adults cannot be evil, some see it as a form of exercise or attempts at becoming pregnant to bring a child into the world. (The root to all evil, really?)

God's idea of Sex - is for the procreation of family.  The world's idea of sex is for fun, health outlets, or sick.  The sick make it evil whcih could be a root cause.

Money is not the root of any evil. Any "evil" acts people partake in to gain fortune is because of the things they want to have/do, which require money to have/do. If they could skip the money part, and perform said "evil" acts in direct exchange for said possessions/activities - skipping the whole money thing...they would.

Sex is FAR from the root of any evil. Without sex, you and I would not exist. The desire (sometimes uncontrollable) stems from an animal instinct, much like the desire to eat. The difference between eating and having sex, is you don't require use of another person's body to eat. Some people can not control their desires, or get crazy obsessions over their instincts because of chemical imbalances. Some crave food uncontrollably, and end up weighing 800lbs. Others crave sex uncontrollably, and unfortunately somebody can get hurt. The root cause here is instinct, lack of will power, and/or mental problems. Not sex itself.

Calling these things the root of any evil are merely scapegoating.

There is rape, prostitution, sex slave black market, wife beating, AIDS, HIV,incest, sexual harassment, bullying, hate crimes to gays, sex in chains, child porn and much more - this I believe is evil and all connected to sex.  Not a scapegoat kind of thing.

Based on that logical the color yellow is evil, as is movement, thought, emotion and the weather.

Everything that is anything can be good or bad.

I would also say that hitting your spouse, hate crimes, child abuse and rape are not sex, they are violence. The very idea that violence is 'sex', I don't know how you even get there.

This is sex that has gone wrong or evil - violence has entered into it.  What about STD's - HIV - AIDS - this I believe has made sex evil - dirty more than just sinful.  Then there is abortion - connected to sex.  Sex has trailed off into forbidden lands - no - I don't want to go there but many have and thousands upon thousands are getting horrible results.  Sex should be lovely, a sweet communication, a bonding of a relationship, a complete expression of love, a satisfaction of both and a growth process.  This world has taken a lot of these positives into sad negatives.

            Don't forget these---------

Teaching kids or adults that perversion is okay.... is evil at the core.
Also, bullying and mocking kids or adults who believe in remaining virgins.
Also, bullying and mocking kids or adults who believe in traditional sex roles and marriage only between one man and one woman.
Also, allowing a man to publicly advocate for abortion in case his daughters "made a mistake".
Most, if not all, of these can be labeled "hate crimes" actually, if one uses the current fad of reference and definition coined by some liberal activists.   And all of those are related to the topic of sex.

However, no, sex itself is not the root of all evil,  nor is it rooted in evil.   It is perversion and violence, the improper usage of sex, that is evil.
