      What will prayer accomplish?

It will accomplish you questioning  just what it will accomplish and if not that ,  then you denying that it will accomplish anything  , either way ;  It accomplishes  prayer and the attention that prayer can draw  at times like this .  One thing  however ,   that  I always wonder about ?     If  those who deny the  power of prayer  are so  all about denying it ;  Why  do you  really care ?

        Do you ?

Thanks for your kind thoughts, ahorseback. I live in Northern NJ, so we shouldn't get hit too badly. But it's very woodsy and we often have trees which fall on the power lines. Long power outages are hard, so I hope too many people don't have to endure them.

I don't know why anyone would deny the power of prayer. I'm not even religious, but anytime somebody takes the time to send good thoughts to anyone, I think it matters.

Prayer: The act of thinking one is doing something by doing absolutely nothing! In this case, you say a prayer to God for the people hit by the blizzard or even the 27,000 kids that die each day of starvation to make you feel better. In reality, the problem is still there and you get the same results by praying to Elvis. Why didn't the all loving, knowing, caring god do something to prevent all this? Was this part of his plan because god works in mysterious ways? Nice excuse, but not buying it.

I am sitting at the kitchen table watching the onslaught right now. I will go out and start snow blowing the driveway for the first time as it is already 18" deep. I will do it again when it stops. I have a limited snow blower but am very thankful for it. I am on an Island in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay.

You're not on Tangier Island, are you?  Visited there once and thought then that it could be a scary place in a major storm.  Hope all is, and remains, well for you.

I have been praying for those living in the path of this winter storm since I saw the satellite data and predictions (not on tv).  Several of my long time online friends have been posting photos of the snow in their yards and roads they have been on.  My best wished go out to everyone...stay safe and God bless!

Thank you so much ahorseback. I'm in DC and it's incredible already with more to come. I got all my supplies and food for the weekend and likely the first few days of next week. I appreciate your prayers and know from experience that prayer works. Many events have happened to me and my family over the last 2 months which lined up in ways that we could not explain except for prayer and divine intervention. If it were not for the prayers of good friends, family, and hubbers like you, I don't know how I made it through. Even getting through the first snow storm in DC on Wednesday night was a beast and a blessing that I made it home unscathed after hours on ice. May all those on the east coast who are out there now get home safely by God's grace.

I live on Long Island and have already shoveled over a foot out of the driveway. The wind is really strong but it can't wait until tomorrow . This is alot worse than forecasters predicted...yikes

I just read that New York City implemented a total travel ban. Any citizen caught on the road after 2:30 p.m. eastern will be arrested.  Yikes!

Stay safe at home, its better then going to the crowbar hotel.

We have about 18" in North Jersey, there's a travel ban here too. It's blowing so hard it's a whiteout. We still have power and the wind is expected to die down. Nobody has even bothered to shovel yet, you can't see.

I have a friend with a grandchild due any time now, I hope the babe can wait a few days!

Yes, I hope the baby can wait a few more days, and that delivery will go well for your friend.  The blizzard could make things rather dramatic if baby decides its time.
