Now would indeed be the time if Trump would join the fight.  Guessing that he would, but that would really harm his already slim chances of a congress that would work with him.

Yes, there should be term limits.    Beyond that, let us select politicians w/ethics & are in their professions to SERVE their constituents.  As for now, most politicians are in it for the celebrity & self-aggrandizement.  People have to THINK & ANALYZE before they vote.   Stop being party loyalist & select a politician based upon character!

Term limits for congress, that is great. But, do you think that Trump and the GOP are going to give up any advantage now they they are drunk with power? The rightwing type as always the cause of the problem and rarely the solution.

Wrong , it is always the liberal growth legislation that screams out ," Give me more of ............."The right fights growth in government , always has .  But had you ever read a history book instead of ................, you might know that.

I don't give serious considerations to the rants of Rush Limbaugh and the right wing 'constitutional scholars'. I concede to the will of the people, but not without concern and watchfulness for excess, as always too common from the right.

          "... drunk with power."

That's a good one. Were the Democrats also "drunk with power" while they held the office and the majority?

I thought that you would like this. Are you purple people having parties with the win of your man? We can only hope that Trump confirms our worse expectations and the Dems can take back the H of Reps in protest in 2018. Until then, we are all going to be drowning in rightwing excrement, try not to let it get into your eyes...

There was a time when I respected your opinion. I hope that I can find my way back there again but you are showing, more and more, that the good of America is of no consequence to you. That the Democratic party is all that matters.

I wonder if you ever did, respect my opinion. I am NOT conservative, so how can anyone tell me that? With a Trump administration and the GOP holding both chambers of congress, the ability to stack the court with hopelessly rightwing ideologues is not of concern to me? You may not respect my opinion, because you are a GOP under the skin. What  I consider better for the country will never be the same as that of any rightwinger. What is more important than your respect of my opinion is my ability to remain true to my principles, respecting myself.

Wilderness, sorry, I have to double down on the Missouri 'show me' position. I will believe it when I see it, and I am not giving him much time to show me what direction he is actually going to take us as opposed to his rhetoric.

While I agree that congress will never, ever support taking their careers from them, Trump is not Congress and doesn't give a flip whether they have a job or not.

*shrug*  But then I'm not actively looking for reasons to vilify Trump, I'm not actively ignoring reasons to think he might do something useful and I'm not actively setting impossible constraints whereby I can call him a liar if he doesn't meet my demands.

But now he will run into the restraints of his executive power relative to the power of the legislative Branch. Trump may not care about the congressmen and their jobs, but how is going to change the entrenched attitudes of Congress in regards to protecting them? It is going to take more than the aura of his personality.

There are already movements to limit congress and senate  controls  of there powers. Check out the Convention of States website , they are in many STATE legislators groups now , they are acting now and have been for a while , they even have politicians on board. Will it work - Only if the lazy ,  and politically apathetic people get behind it !

They are also right and left "handed "I believe .

All the states will have agree to the prohibition, as no one state would want to be at a disadvantage relative another one. Something like a constitutional convention and constitutional amendment will be necessary. Similar to the current restrictions to the term of the President.

Even thinking Congress will consider term limits for themselves is a pipe dream that will never happen. Trump doesn't have a choice as it is mandated by the Constitutions 22nd Amendment. I keep telling you these guys (Congress) will never vote themselves out!. It is not in their best interest and they prove daily that they are not out for the best interests of the country. It has to start from the bottom up.

And despite Trump's populist image, Trump has no interest in 'bottom up' solutions, as he himself hails from the top of the 'food chain'. He will provide plenty of lip service but being a plutocrat, he and his kind will never forfeit their advantage over the rest of us. It is the biggest slight of hand ever pulled on the AMERICAN populace.

We should not judge Trump this early.  He must prove himself first if he isang really worth the votes.  Ang if not? Dont vote him next time..
