Some of the Arab countries (the wealthier ones such as the United Arab Emirate) are investing heavily in tourism, developing infrastructure: ports, airports and such. They know oil is not going to last forever.
Most, with the possible exception of the Emirates (as Mr Happy alluded to), will revert back to the well-deserved obscurity and poverty they enjoyed prior to oil.
(Why do I say that? Their religion and culture sucks even more than Christianity.)
I worry about that. Some states have invested in infrastructure, but in general there has been insufficient attention to education of the general population, and that is the investment that would allow them the flexibility to develop new survival tactics.
"Dabeaner's" reply is unnecessarily offensive. One should not look forward to other people's misfortune even if one does not like them, nor is vulgar abuse any way to discuss complex questions like religion and culture. If we cannot have an informed, courteous debate on such points, as adults should, it is better not to raise them at all.
i think turism and avanced cities will be the answer for these countries.
Invade countries and steal oil from them just like some countries do lol.
