What do the American Hubbers think about the possibility of that Mosque being built in New York?
I think it is a terrible idea. I also think it speaks volumes about the Muslim religion that they have no understanding of the very sensitivity of this for Americans that they would not stand against this as well. Consider that some years back in San Ysidro, CA a man walked into a McDonald's restaurant and started shooting. The restaurant was ultimately torn down and a monument was put up to honor the victims. Putting up a mosque at ground zero would be akin to putting up a statue of the shooter at that McDonald's. The fact that ANY American would see this as a reaching out to the Muslim faith greatly troubles me.
It's not has if it would be built at Ground Zero. Because of what happened, I highly doubt anything will be built there for a very long time, if ever. It's a place for those who lost loved ones to mourn and visit as well as a place to honor the hero's and victims. Nothing will change that.
I don't think a Mosque being built in New York is a bad thing. I'm sure there are Mosque's all over the state. We are still the united States, after all. Freedom of Religion is one of our amendments. Just because someone is connected to the culture doesn't mean they are all Terrorists.
And I could be wrong, but aren't terrorists religious extremists and not necessarily affiliated with a particular religion?
Either way, I don't see it as a bad thing.
I don't have the same kind of objection to it that most others seem to have...I acknowledge that it wasn't Muslims in general that perpetrated the acts against the WTC. To say that would imply that all Muslims are extremists, which is just as absurd as saying that every Christian is a potential David Koresh. My issue with it is one of consistency...our government diligently works to remove evidence of anything religious in government buildings and national monuments (including the removal of any non-commercial-centric Christmas decorations, etc.), and Ground Zero is considered a national monument and therefore should not include symbols of ANY religion.
Why should it matter? It is not on the SAME BLOCK - be deal ... it's in the same neighborhood! Maybe they can organize a group to volunteer to pick up trash in the Memorial!
Who are we to assume we know and understand what their reasons are?
What the heck! You people just elected a Muslim named President in office who is a MUCH BIGGER problem than people of faith typically are!

They are rich. They are highly educated. They think they're smart enough to be subtle in their desire to destroy people of a different race or religion. Unlike Rand Paul; this new age terrorist claims she is a Messiah. She just wants to help the poor Muslim People. Lead them out of Egypt or some...

Most of us have heard about it already, plans are in the works to construct a mosque at ground zero. The site where over 3,000 people died in the catastrophic event of 9/11. Mothers, fathers, husbands, and wives died in the twin towers that day, and now a giant mosque is being erected in their...

A mosque at Ground Zero. How about a monument to Kamikaze Pilots at Pearl Harbor or a statue of Harry Truman in Hiroshima? It’s not a matter of religious freedom or race. It’s a matter of decency and common sense. There are plenty of other properties in New York City,...

Even though I'm not Muslim however, I can't help but wonder if it is fair to hold all Muslims accountable for the deeds of other Muslims ( especially those extremist groups). Would'nt it be absurd to blame every living White man for the enslavement of Blacks? Or, do you call every German a...
