and once again the rich get richer and the poor get poorer
and our children becomes a nation of illiterate. so as a parent
we have to push harder and make our voices be heard,

Two reasons...the problems which are closing them are not necessarily money related...they are performance issues on the part of the students, teachers, parents, and administrations not to mention the damn government which cannot keep its bony fingers out of the mix.  This is the payback to teachers unions who have fought every effort to improve things...the school closes and the teachers are without work...so much for the union, huh?  Secondly, using education as the basis to pass the vote on a lottery is the oldest trick in the book.  Once the lottery is past, the legislature simply makes a move to place the proceeds into the general fund and education is back in the arms of our federal idiots.  WB

Because we live in a country where the Pentagon sucks up a lion's share of our tax monies.  It's more important to make war in America than to educate our children.  Besides, a highly educated public is hard for the government to control.  No free thinkers allowed!
