Do people TRULY see a different reflection in the mirror than others see them?
Also, is a photograph different from a mirror image?
I think there is something to be said for that. What you and I see of yourselves, in our vision in the mirror, comes with all the horns and warts. We know every secret, every weakness, every shortcoming. Others do not always see that in our image...we have to place it there for them. Sometimes I think we are too quick to do that..to help them with the assessement of us when it would just be better to let them come to their own conclusions. Photographs are different because the preserve an instant in time that does not change...the mirror is constantly evolving. WB
People are often more critical of themselves that others are. Someone with low self esteem can be told they are beautiful a million times and still not be convinced.
And I think photographs are different. The way the camera catches light or a smile that is genuine is much different from any look you could give a mirror. Someone seeing you through a lens and thinking you are beautiful enough to capture is different that you seeing yourself with all the flaws a stranger will never know.
