Obama made a good point just now in his speech.  He noted how the opposition comes up with hysteria about pulling the plug on grandma and illegal aliens, but do they have any answers about health care reform?  No, and he is right.  Listening to his speech right now even if this was half of the rhetoric involved in the back to school speech, I would say good for him.  Of course we know the back to school speech is just going to be about that, staying in school.

He was speaking to a slightly partisan all-union AFL-CIO crowd just down the road from me. They were enjoying their free annual picnic at a local swim club / amusement park.

When does he not speak to a partisan crowd?

When they are far enough away that he can't see them?

Yes it is pretty evident that these are Obama's core supporters.  However, it is an nice change from those who question him about imagined things, such as subversive teachings in a back to school speech.

    Hey Sweetie Pie.
He says a lot of *gasp* logical and intelligent things.
Must be an elitist! Oh, wait, he wants more equality...must be a commie! But he wants to talk to the children about America...holy mackerel, the nerve of this subversive fella. Are we SURE about that birth certificate....?
    lol
Just had to throw a bone seeing as 42 minutes later ya got nothing on this one.
Post "Obama pulling plug on Grandma" and you'll get tons of responses!!!

Glad to see you posted here Robee.  I just wanted to start a more positive thread about Obama since I see all the nonsense is still going on over there on the school kids thread.  Obama did a good job speaking the AFL-CIO, and this is one of his better speeches in months.  Of course I am sure my opposition will be along shortly to refute this point smile.

Obama is the incompetent semi-Antichrist!  He is mind-melding with the school children and turning them into communist/fascists.

How could you post this, SP?  You are SO illogical.

Do I hear a "Hell, Yeah" out there?????

Yes.  And she explains it in her one hub.

I don't know how she made the connection.  Must be all the hair.  Kudos to her, really.  But then again, you know communists and fascists are the same thing, too.  This has got to be part of it all.  wink

All the communists cheering at the AFL-CIO were a nice change from the John Wayne tea bag impresonators/protesters smile.

I thought it was his beast speech since the campaign.  Inspirational and thoughtful.  Didn't even need to atatck anyone to get his point across.

The speech to the kids tomorrow, all about working hard and staying in school.  Not sure how the right can fight against that.

You better watch out posting the yin and the yang symbol here.  Some parents might get mad and think Obama is trying to teach them about eastern philosophies because heaven forbid at school we learn about, other cultures smile.

Yes but this song is not on the approved menu of activities.  Some parents might think there is a subversive message in the lyrics.

Every time he is on television.  Obama, more than Bush did with the left and Clinton did for that matter, has reached out to the right.  He has not been met.

There are some Republicans out there with some ideas, and not all of them are bad.  They are just being drowned out right now.  Hopefully, common sense will win out and something can get done.

Given the text of his speech, they have no shot.

      "The debate is over."
      "It's time to do something."

Sounds like recycled Global Warming rhetoric to me.

Is Al Gore his speech writer?
