Does anyone know if the Halls of Congress and the White House are ADA Compliant?
I have heard they have not got around to doing that since they passed the ADA legislation. I hope that this is not true.
Leroy, according to Compliance.gov, Capitol Hill has improved compliancy with the Americans with Disabilities Act, but still has room for improvement. (http://www.compliance.gov/publications/presentation/). However, the White House is STILL attempting to meet compliance (http://www.fox-architects.com/blog/post … ompliance/).
I don't know, but doesn't Congress usually exempt themselves from the regulations that they pass? I know that has happened in the past.
Since some of the buildings are 100s of years old it is probably difficult to make them completely compliant. Hopefully they at least have chair lifts.
I can't say that I've ever looked but we have had members of all branches of government who have been disabled so I am guessing the answer is yes.
